In Topic: Install the all new version of BP components and NeJ, How to

16 May 2006 - 09:15 AM

I honestly try to look at the forums, but all the help seems related to inlcuding BG1 or NEJ or whatever. Which I would love to do if BG1 would work on my computer... but since it does not it is of no use to me. Any help would be appreciated.

You mean it does not install or does not run? Actually, if BG1 installation finished correctly then BGT should install fine in any case, even if you couldn't run the BG1 game for some reason (say, video driver problems)

BG1 refuses to run properly on my system. Yet BG2 runs fine. BG1 runs well for a various amount of time within about 10 minutes, but then always bogs down. It gets to the point where I can move across a room in about a minute, no joke. Resetting my comp fixes this problem for another few minutes and then the process starts all over again. So I'm just trying to stick with BG2 and its mod installation, which is already hard enough to comprehend for me.

I am having a slight problem with my older BP161 install

yr more or less on yr own, as no-one is supporting the old version any more.

that said, i don't ever recall having this problem. it sounds to me more like a game-related problem than a BP-specific one; have you tried hitting the space bar and pausing the game as soon as you hear the 'open container' (ie, pick up loot) sound? have you re-mapped the keypad shortcuts, or anything tricky like that?

otehrwise, err, just the usual suggestions: clean out yr cache, temp and temp-save folders, and try again.

Nah I completely wiped it... and decided to update to the new ones. I really didn't want to as figuring out the whole install process is just a real pain... I look at all the help already listed including your install order... and I just get lost. It had taken me long enough to figure out the old ones that I just wanted to stick with what I knew. Oh well. Thank you for the response anyway.

I'm still slightly confused when I look at that list. Would the BP eliminate the need for TS 6.05? I look at the files and can't help, but think that something is wrong as they seem majorly compressed from older versions. But here is a list and I was wondering if anything else would be necessary and if there is an auto-install for this newer stuff.
SOS 1.10
TDD 1.10
TS-BP 6.04.01
BP 176
Ruad 19
Weimer's Underrepresented Items 5
Weimer's Item Upgrades 32
Banter Packs 6
Flirt Packs 1.01
And maybe a few NPC mods listed as compatible with these files.

Would steps 1, 8, or 9 still be useful. I'm sorry I need things spelled out for me pretty plain and I haven't understood any installation process listed since the BP1.61 and the 1.03TDD days. I haven't tried a post 1.61 install, so I want to make sure I get it right. I don't want to spend weeks on in,re,un installing with brief breaks of quitting in frustration.

In Topic: Are you still playing Icewind Dale series?

I just finished IWD2 again. I enjoy it, but not as much as Baldur's Gate. Even though it is much less of a hassle to install. Stupid BG2 mods.

I have NEVER been able to finish IWD with or without the patches and with or without the Heart of Winter. I have my game crash no matter what... when I enter the tree after defeating that first guy in the tomb. The patches say they will eliminate that bug, but have never worked for me and even lead to me permanently being unable to load my game up without reinstallation.

Well, I did IWD & BG polls, so why leave it at that?

I'll have to say 'no', since I never got my darned copy... always out of stock. Soon I'm going to get it some other way if I'm unable to get it on CDs.

Unfortunately, I'm in the same boat as you. It's one of a few games I've been unable to get my hands on.
