hey, that worked!!  Thanks for figuring that out, I had figured that I was going to have to just suffer with character sounds turned off.  I wonder why those text update made the difference.  They aren't part of the mega install instructions.

I've corrected it in mine now buy NOT installing the baldurdash text update for BG1 or BG2 and not having BPV177 unpacked in the BG2 directory until I was going to install it. I don't think the BP being there had anything to do with the problem but the Balderdash text update did. so BG1+TotSC + official patch, BG2 + ToB + official patch, BG2fixpackV1 and then the rest of the mods per the install order thread and everything works fine.

This won't work and the problem is in the BG1 install BG1 needs to be reinstalled and the patches/fixes installed per the clean install part of the installation thread!

I have BG1 installed and updated to the lastest patch already and my Balder.ini has the cd1, cd2 etc. stuff edited out also. Is there more I need to do?

is something like this fixable without having to do another reinstall? i'm going on my 5th in 2 days

well if I start a new game in BG1 everybody has the right voice.
