In Topic: Crazy Kensai Guy

10 August 2007 - 02:42 PM

Well, I got to admit, this Kensai was fun. If you thought he was hard, try fighting him, earlier.

I had the following party:

Level 7 Samurai
Jaheira Level 7 fighter/Level 8 Priest of Silvanus
Minsc Level 7 Ranger
Imoen Level 9 Charming Rogue
Khalid Level 7 Fighter/Level 7 Mage (multi-class)
Dynaheir Level 8 Invoker

Came across the Kensai in BG1 in the city of Baldur's Gate :) I gave up. I was dualwielding 2 Malakars, because I probably did the wrong rp thing, in saving Alden from the druids, and his personal shop ended up having several Malakars, so I just forfeited one Malakar to the Kensai and went and bought a replacement.

So not worth trying to take him in BG1 with that party. I got slaugtered several times :) How much xp and what his eq would of been, I'd hate to think :)

In Topic: Updating mods, and where to put new ones?

Erebusant.

I assume you meant the Gibberlings 3 fixpack ?

Stupid question, what is SCSBGT ?

I'll probably leave the BP Series out, it would be nice, but I've never ever used ai scripts for any of my party :o which is probably silly.

To Erebusant and anyone else,

With people still bringing out mods and refining them regularly enough, are all the extra kits, like in the divine remix etc, a lot better than the Darkest Day kits ? I do like some of TDD kits, but I do find some of them broken, and if you install them, that doesn't allow extra kits to be added.

So what is peoples opinions these days on kits ? If mods like divine remix, song and silence, etc got installed, they'd be installed between:
BP V177 TOB Trigger Fix
and
BGTTWEAK v6

I'd assume they would or they'd be installed after DOTWEAK, to allow BGTTWEAK, and BG2Tweak, etc to kick in ?

Thanks again.

In Topic: Hit bugs, but think it's okay, want to check, still....

Possible spoilers below, so if you haven't played BG1 through to 2 with NEJ, TS, BP, SoS, and a few other mods, be careful.

Anyway.....

I've just finished the NEJ2 jaunt in IWD, I missed fixing the Arboretum, because I forgot about how much stuff I needed. Astrolabe.

Oh okay, I didn't know where the Astrolabe appeared in Kuldahar, no biggy, wasn't that much xp :)

I ignored the 1st Yoshimo, Good and before leaving the dungeon, told Imoen to be gone. Thus I was left with no other Imoen except the one the wizards took.

Good, glad about that, and probably did the right thing with Imoen too, would of felt bad, carting a duplicate Imoen around with me.

I visited the Copper Coronet, and the first Yoshi was still there. Ignore Him

Nod, done. I'd be tempted to Ctrl-Y the first Yoshi though.

So....

Will two Yoshi's one in the party with me and the original break the game, if I don't kill the first Yoshi off in the Coronet ? Ignore the 2nd

You mean the 2nd one in the Coronet who was the first one I didn't accept from the dungeon, right ? Did that just make sense

I would of told Yosh and Kachiko to go to the tavern from the dungeon, but I actually need a mage, (Best to have main character as a mage too if possible) and given her Int, and didn't know who else there was out there, I figured I'll keep her, cos I'll drop Hrothgar eventually.

Slight prob, given I've got a Paladin ;)

2) With Hrothgar in the party, I can get the Ulcaster quest done right ? Because when I went through BG1 part, I got a quest transition message of Ulcaster and starting a quest, and Hrothgar and Imoen needing to wait, and I didn't realise this was a "BG2" thing. I can't travel to Ulcaster at the moment, Ulcaster get hidden during transiton. so I assume I automatically go there ? Hrothgar will take you there. If I can't finish the quest there, I'll probably just dump Hrothgar now, cos I really don't want to do too much without a Cleric :D but then I might consider regrabbing Minsc over a cleric, I dunno.

All good with Ulcaster then.

1) I started BG2, with 20 rep, I thought I had a mod installed that broke rep up into two things: rep and errrm sorry I can't remember what the other thing was :-/ Virtue. Also there is a BG2 Tweaks component that will reset your Reputation during transition from BG1 to BG2.

Ahh, thought I'd installed that, and I double checked and hadn't. If I really want it this run, can I install it part way into the BG2 part, or unadvisable and just put it in later, and more to the point is it even compatible with all the mods I have installed ? I'd assume if it was compatible, it would be installed basically last ?

2) Going straight from Chapter 1 to Chapter 3 after hitting the slums, is fine, as well right ? It won't break any quests ? Else I'll have to find a way and buy a crap load of stuff from Ribalds before I hit the Slums. Because somehow, I managed to still have like well, let us just say way more gold than I should have as I sold tons of crap in NeJ2. (It would be nice to have a component added to BG2 Teaks or something to take away your money. Other than that, you could always donate to a temple?) I don't recall anything that has to happen during Ch2 that can't be done during ch3

Totally forgot about temple donations.

Hmm, I think that's all my concerns. It's mainly the multiple Yoshi/Imoen, the 20 rep, and Chap 1 to 3 jump because I can't get out of forking over 20k of gold immediately to bloody Coo-boy :P , (there is a dialog to come back later, even if you have the money. You need to use it if you want to work for Bodhi and enter the Vulova estate to rescue Leina) and dealing with Hrothgar as I can't travel to Ulcaster yet.

Ahh, won't be siding with Bodhi I don't think ;)

In Topic: CANNOT ENTER AREA!!! CRASHED!!!

27 August 2006 - 08:00 AM

If I'm not mistaken, it's a standard BG1 area, and it crashed on me too, but only if I entered from a certain direction. Try entering from a different direction, and you should be fine.

In Topic: Wrong order of quests by me yet again ? :-/

*rolls his eyes*

Okay I'm really really stupid :( Don't you guys agree either :P

The scroll was still on the ground, about a week later of travelling and doing other quests. I remembered picking it up, but then I musta dropped it, cos I didn't think it was important.

Thanks SBB, now I can finish kicking everything's butt before going back to the Dukes :D
