Unless you changed the way the Guild works when you side with Bohdi, then that won't work either. IIRC, when you attack the Guild, Renal vanishes, therefore removing the opportunity to legitimately get the sword early.

I still am firmly of the opinion that Valen need *much* more fleshing-out before a romance could even be considered.  I am an aspiring author, and at this point, I couldn't write a remotely credible romance based from what dialogue Valen has. As opposed to, say, Haer'Dalis, who is quite chatty and has *personality*. I really think that the Djinn from the Wish spell has more dialogue than Valen does, and I can't see myself romancing Sanchudokku, so why would I romance Valen.

Ah well, this debate has roared on for months now, with no real consensus in sight. I doubt I will see any kind of agreement made before I am too old to read the print on the screen

I agree with Auvrin here: Finish Valen as an NPC, give her more dialogues, banter, interjections and so forth. My take on this is simple: How can you say she would be a great romance when she barely speaks at all? What basis do you have for this conclusion? As is, Valen is truly comparable to Kitthix or Guenhwyvar, a tool, a weapon. Will you propose next a romanceable summon? Make her a viable interactive NPC before screaming for a romance. It makes alot more sense to me.
