`nother thing to make bg3 a sequel would be to either import your old tob character (with the way you decided to take imported too) and then link the story together at some time.
for those who start a new game it would be possible to start the game at the ending of tob and then let the players choose their way.
well this is only my opinion
they could start the bg3 story with something like being sealed into a little child by other gods that hate you
