Playing it on a mates computer because it won't install on my win98 machine...

Minc's dialogue is messed up when you first meet him. Your only option of speaking to him is UNKNOWN STRING WANTED.
Only way to get him in your party is to find Dyanheir (sp?) and have her in your party THEN talk to him afterwards.

Also after you have cleansed the Iron Throne tower in BG, Duke Eltan gives you a book and sends you to Candlekeep. Problem is the guard there doesn't recognise it and so he will never let you into Candlekeep, not allowing the game to progress.
Anyone know the area code of inside Candlekeep so I can finish my game before a fix comes out?

Just gave that last idea a try. I get this error.

File not found - BGT\Install\STRINGS.COM
Bad command or file name

Then it terminates.

Unfortunately that doesn't work either.

I've tried shortening the names, different cases, with and without slashes, etc. Always with a syntax error. Rather infuriating

I'm sorry that you are the guinea pig here Cal, but can you open up BGT-Presetup.bat in <BGII install directory>\BGT\Language\English and DELETE "@ECHO OFF" at the top, run the installation again, then when you get the syntax error, post as much of the script as you can here.  It might be easier if you just took a screenshot and registered on these forums, so you can just post a picture, but if you don't want to, write down all the script preceding the syntax error.  Cheers.
