The Dark Elf Trilogy ? I decided that Salvatore was not at all to my taste just after I read these. I thought they painted the heroes in very black-and-white style, and I found the main character (yes, Drizzt himself) repulsive in these books. After I played BG2, I thought better of him.

Really, if BG3 is going to be based on Drizzt series, it would be a huge disappointment for me.

I really have to agree, that's what made me very suspicious of Demon Stone(?) The RPG that's being written by R. A. Salvatore.

Salvatore can write a great ride--I've read the first three Drizzt trilogies, as well as another world he created, can't remember the setting name. He simply cannot end a story well. It's like he's building an amusement ride, has some of the best curves and twists out there, then, as an 'ending,' slams the brakes in what feels mid-ride.

I really love the Drow, I'm dying to buy the Underdark suppliment for P&P D&D, but Salvatore is an writer I've learned the hard way to avoid.

P.S. DO NOT get me started about the Cleric Quintet. I read that solid--my mum had gotten the set on eBay-- in a weekend, and I couldn't have been more disgusted with the ending. It has to be the worst in Fantasy History. Ugh!!

Gah.

I can't say I've played Bloodlines; I can say I've seen a lot of the dialogue from it, and it's godawful--much worse than NWN could ever be.

The voice acting, imo is fantastic and more than makes up for any bad dialogue (eg the conversation with gary looks terrible on paper but the voice actor makes it truly memorable) . In NWN I cringed every time I heard a voice as the voice acting imo was sub-par but in VTMB I couldn't wait for the next conversation with some of the npcs. Some of the dialogue choices were horrible ("if im not back in 10 minutes call the president") but on a whole the conversations with the npcs were quite well done.

The biggest issue with bloodlines imo was it was riddled with bugs and it needed a powerful computer to run it well

For me, Planescape: Torment defined voice acting. Yes, it was sparse, but when it showed up, IT SHOWED UP!

Plus Morte was hilarious, the actor for him mastered delivery.

Back on topic, what about Jaheria?

She said she was royalty, remember? We could uncover more about her past... or how she joined the Harpers.

"Athar.

Your faction believes that the so-called gods are frauds, and that others need to see the truth."

Hmm, not what I was expecting, I always imgined if I belonged to an faction in Sigil it would be the Sensates, though actively trying to prove the fraudulence of planescape gods would probably provide lots of sensations.. like .. oh, so this is what it's like to become a small pile of glowing dust .. for instance ;)

Ditto. Not what I was expecting, but it fits very well in any case.
