FOR WINDOWS 8 USERS:
My Case: Installed Planescape Torment + 5 Recommended Mods.
My Problem: Had extremely slow frame rate for cursor; unplayable.
Failed Solutions: Copying 3 .dll files, running setup for ddraw fix, etc. (only caused other problems)
My Solution:
1. Downloaded ddwrapper.zip from http://bitpatch.com/ddwrapper.html
2. Extracted (using 7zip) into Torment Game folder (same place as the .exe)
3. Edited the aqrit.cfg so that:
ForceDirectDrawEmulation = 1
NoVideoMemory = 1
and saved the file. Ran perfectly (after hours of researching/troubleshooting). Hope this helps fellow windows 8 users (with the mods)!
(If that does not work, others reported success with editing the .tp2 file from the earlier download: http://www.gog.com/f...ng_in_windows_8)
Signed up to second this fix and thank you for posting it; going through older fixes I had either good fps OR no cursor trails.
Your fix works perfectly on my Windows 8 Intel Laptop with a GOG copy of PS:T and the same 5 recommended mods. I'm only in the first screen of the game, so I'll post an update if something buggy happens further on (I've heard spells can be a problem sometimes).
Thanks to everyone who has put in work making this game playable.
