You may want to -uninstall- 1.76 before installing 1.77. If you try to install 1.77 over 1.76, it seems to error out during the creatures script installation and rolls back to previous (forgot the error message, but it was something in "strings.something)), but the other components still install fine. Uninstalling 1.76 (of course uninstall 1.77 first) and then installing 1.77 fixes it.
I never saw anything about needing to uninstall 1.76 first in the readme, but that's the beauty of weidu ! Uninstall and go !
