Seems like you didn't. You probably fought the FF already in the south of Berecost area.

Instead of loading up Perdvale, I loaded up Trade Way North (the area south of Beregost) and was able to trigger Viconia's recruitment sequence (asking for help, fighting a Flaming Fist Mercenary and then putting up Viconia in the party). After which she didn't appear in Perdvale as before.

Strangely if Viconia's recruitment sequence was triggered in Perdvale (before triggering it in Trade Way North), then I get the situation where the Flaming Fist mercenary wont appear to attack Viconia (in Perdvale). After this you will never ever be able to recruit Viconia (in my mod installation) as the recruitment sequence doesn't appear in Trade Way North on that save.
