Choppiness

20 March 2005 - 01:18 AM

I just installed BP and started a new game and it is really choppy.  The little pause pendulum doesn't swing, it jerks.  I'm playing on a Dell that I got in August, that was at the time the second best computer they had to offer, so it should be able to run BG2 fine.  I thought maybe it was a problem outside of BP though because Warcraft 3 has been choppy lately too, so I tested my old Baldur's Gate TuTu and it worked just fine (and it uses the BG2 engine...).  So I have to conclude that it is BP, but I have no idea what to do.  And now, after testing some more and going back to edit this, I'm again not sure it's BP.  Apparently BG2 is slightly choppy on my computer even without BP, and with it just a lot more so.  Any ideas?  Has this happened before with BP?  I have something like 14 other mods I was going to install afterwards and I'm afraid to do so till I get this cleared up.  Whether or not this is actually a BP problem I could really use some help.  Thanks.

By the way, I think I might have had Baldurdash fixes installed before installing BP.  Does installing them again with BP matter?  Does BP include all of these fixes?

computer or xbox?

16 March 2005 - 12:40 AM

I have Morrowind and Morrowind GOTY for Xbox.  My friend tells me that the mods are half the fun and you need it for computer to play them.  I've completely given up on GOTY for Xbox because load times are 10 times longer and it locks up every 5 minutes.  Does that happen to everyone?  Does it happen on computer too?  Should I buy Morrowind or Morrowind GOTY for computer just for the mods?  What are the best mods out there?  I am always limiting myself by not paying trainers, using certain types of weapons or enchantments, etc., to make the game an actual challenge.  Are there any mods that balance it?  I tried researching the mods and came up with pretty much nothing.  I don't even know where to look for good ones.

Near Infinity

20 February 2005 - 02:42 AM

I've been using Shadowkeeper to alter my character, but it doesn't recognize modded kits.  It was suggested that I get Near Infinity to if I want to multiclass using custom kits, but I have absolutely no idea how to do this.  I downloaded Near Infinity and Java because the web page I was looking at said both were necessary.  I have no idea what to do with either of them *_*.  How do I even start up Near Infinity?  I tried opening it with Java and it wouldn't show up on the list, and if I clicked on it from the menu it did nothing.

downloading

Where is the best place to download BP?  All the places that had the mods that it effects that I found were either INSANELY slow or you had to pay (or it wasn't clear whether or not you have to pay so I hesitated).

Thanks

morituri kit

16 February 2005 - 04:31 PM

Just to clarify, if I play the morituri kit with BG1 TuTu and then try to play it in BG2 with BP, it IS possible but only if I use the G3 kit remover? I don't want to play all the way through BG1 TuTu and then find out my kit won't work.
