If you've used the BWP:

Take a look at the mod components in your WeiDU.log.

If you happen to have this

~KONTWK/SETUP-KONTWK.TP2~ #0 #11 // Rod of Refuge

component installed, you don't have to resort to the console and can do it in game.

This component adds an area to which you can teleport in order to rest safely and store loot. The access item can be found in BG1 and BG2, enabling you to do the thing Jarno proposed to do via console. You dump your loot in this area before the transition and don't have access to it until you have defeated a certain creature in the graveyard of Athkatla.

Thanks but I don't have that installed. S'cool, the console thing worked a charm.

I'm relieved it was a lot easier than I thought...I'd done a lot of googling around and I couldn't find a proper solution. Thanks again for the help guys, I'm a happy gamer again :)

I used the Big World install and I'm at the end of BG1 now with a bagfull of katanas.

Load the save game before the transfer, go to an are where there is a container that you can open and put all your items in and push the "x"-key, it will give you the area name... something to the effect of "arxxxx", next complete the transfer, see the sights and complete the Irenicus dungeons area with the equipment the game gives... then use the Console to transfer the selected party members to the old area with this:

CLUAConsole:MoveToArea("arxxxx")
And when you have taken what you want... use that again this time just using the other area code:
CLUAConsole:MoveToArea("ar0602")
