I would appreciate a mild walkthrough. I understand that Mr. Bisson's intent was to make the mod challenging. I appreciate that. For that reason I have continued to play it. But I share, in part Mad Mage's frustration.

A number of poster's have expressed concern about their inability to move quests forward due to hiding NPC's or difficult to decipher clues. I have noted through the weeks of largely lurking on this board that players discover elements of quests that I have not and vice-versa. I am left to wonder why? It would help me a great deal simply to know which quests are character class specific and for whom.

As an example, I have played through CtB three times. I have never seen the girl Mad Mage references. I have always wondered what to do with the chest. I have assumed it belongs to a class specific quest although it seems as if it should belong with House Exterminos.

With respect to House E, I have never discovered its gate key. So I wonder, is it a class specific quest or despite exhaustive searching, have I missed something? A walkthrough which balances Mr. Bisson's intent of a challenge while addressing, in general terms, issues like my example would be most appreciated.**

Question: Without finding the gate key I have managed to enter House E. It's legitimate for a mage. It requires a spell one finds at the Academy. However, for any non-mage it would require the use of the ctrl key. Once inside, I eradicate the inhabitants of all above ground floors. However, when I attempt to go to the basement the game crashes. It has happened every time. My question; is the keyless method by which I entered House E the source of the crash or do I have a game problem? Perhaps the Mad Mage's mysterious little girl knows?

Blitz, you are not alone.

I too have hit the XP cap problem. My first time through CtB v148 I maxed out at 2.8m just as in an unmodded SOA game. I figured the XP cap remover was overwritten or overridden somehow. Several other Ease-of_Use elements were flaky as well. For example, scrolls would stack but not potions.

I reloaded EoU and all was fine untill I maxed experience. I reloaded the XP cap remover and then I experienced Blitz's problem. Experience would increase during game play. But once the game was reeloaded experience was reset to 2.8m.

I did a reinstall and upgrade to v150. I haven't had any EoU issues in my current game. My character is closing in on 2.8m. I'll let you know if I have the problem again.

Let me ask you folks, how did you get Cromwell to make you the crown?

Possible spoilers in the following narrative...

I've played CtB twice as a mage, v148 and v150. Each time I gathered up the ingredients and asked Cromwell to make the crown. However, I do not have any information regarding what the crown looks like or blueprints for its manufacture. When Cromwell attempts to make the crown he does his usual forge animation and then breaks the dialouge. He greets me like I just walked in the door and I have no valid replies or links.
Have I missed the blueprints ala Crom Fayr? If so where are they? I tore the Library Under the Lake apart assuming there would be the most likely location.
Or is Cromwell supposed to produce the crown without instructions and I am bugged?
Assistance is appreciated.

Right, methinks me founds itsss.

It currently looks like this:
BEGIN ~Check The Bodies optional music component.~
APPEND ~SongList.2DA~
~84      AR3540          84.MUS
85      AR3545          85.MUS
86      AR3550          86.MUS
87      AR3555          87.MUS
88      AR3500          88.MUS
89      AR3501          89.MUS
90      CB3661          90.MUS
91      CB3661          91.MUS~
PRINT ~Installing new music.  Please wait.~

Am I supposed to edit it to look like this:
BEGIN ~Check The Bodies optional music component.~
APPEND ~SongList.2DA~

Palle,

I did as Siefer suggested above.  Run CtBv150 Setup.exe and uninstall the music.  Simply say "N" or no change to the game files and "U" to the music.  Takes 30 seconds.  I'm up and running again.

Seifer,

To you, I bow in thanks.
~84      J                J      .MUS
85      J                J      .MUS
86      J                J      .MUS
87      J                J      .MUS
88      J                J      .MUS
89      J                J      .MUS
90      J                J      .MUS
91      J                J      .MUS~
UNLESS ~84~
PRINT ~Installing new music.  Please wait.~

????? Is that it?
And do I then save and it will run correctly? Or do I need to reinstall it (I would not think so, that would create a new unedited tp2 file right??

Thanks and best wishes; Palle

Palle,

So do I understand correctly; you uninstalled and reinstalled BGII, Ctb v150 and whatever else with the same assertion error result?  I won't bother to try unless you tell me otherwise.

Oh wise ones, we supplicants seek your counsel.

No, not exactly. On the old computer it worked fine, when I reinstalled everything on a new one I got the same error as you do. Perhaps V. 150 does not like XP?? The old one ran 2000...

I am probably not going to do anything about it until such time as CB or someone else with knowledge of the possible problem answers.

Best wishes; Palle Rasmussen

Thanks, Palle.

I too am running XP. My v148 was running fine.
