Yet another BiG World Installation Question. Chitin.key is deleted?

19 July 2012 - 01:27 AM

So hey everyone, I'm yet another person, new to megamodding, who's having difficulty installing BWP!

The problem I'm having is that while I get everything set up fairly easily - extract all the mods properly, run all the self contained executable (i.e. stuff from PPG, et cetera) to get the setup-***.exe in the main folder, blah blah blah, the actual installation fails fairly miserably. What ends up happening is that the chitin.key file, somehow, I don't know how nor why, gets deleted when I run the installer batch. Not a clue how this happens, but I've tried it on two separate computers, and I haven't the foggiest what I'm doing wrong. UAC's disabled, there's no antivirus stuff, I'm installing BWP in C:\BWP\BGII - SoA, et cetera et cetera.

What happens is that the window tells me that it cannot find various files key to the installation of various mods, so, for instance, when it tries to install "Secrets of Bone Hill," it goes:

ERROR locating resource for 'getting 2DA lines'
Resource [PROJECTL.IDS] not found in KEY file:
[c:\bwp\Baldur's Gate/chitin.key]
et cetera et cetera.

When I check the Baldur's Gate folder, the chitin.key file is there.

So is it an installation weirdness? Did I screw up the extraction?

Unfortunately, not quite. Because when I check out my BGII - SoA folder, the chitin.key file is completely deleted, and I can't install any mod that requires anything from it, which basically means all quest and NPC mods. This is unfortunate, to say the least.

I've tried this with and without the trimpack as well. Normal mods without the installer work fine.

Any assistance? I'm unsure what, if any files I can upload to help you guys help me?

Sorry for another, probably stupid question, it's just I can't find anyone else who has this issue either.

Anyone have a clue?

New BG2 game problems (Vazeron1)

14 May 2012 - 09:36 AM

So, uh, similar difficulty with my install, but I'm trying to start a new BG2 game with a huge megamod install. I know a few things are out of order in my log, but meh. Basically, the issue is that I start a new game and get the instructions to level up, all that's fine, but irenicus never actually appears.
Yes, I know starting a new BG2 game kind of makes BGT irrelevant, but I've done a huge megamod install, and don't fancy uninstalling something at the very bottom. For reference to the issue, it's a standard mage, nothing else. I levelled up, memorized what little spells I had, slept; nothing seemed to work, and I waited a good 10 minutes with BG running. I do have the BGTNEJ Imoen kit installed, but I don't have Imoen in my party as it's a new BG game, so...

Yet another Help Topic

26 September 2011 - 01:34 PM

Hey, relatively new to the boards, and I recently re-discovered BG II. Anyways, I just had a question - to my everlasting annoyance and regret, I didn't manage to complete much of Edwin's romance prior to the Underdark, resulting in him giving me the Nether Scroll Quest at the same time as Bodhi's taunts. Unfortunately, she didn't take him, and I was wondering if it was at all possible to either change a few Shadowkeeper variables, or anything with the CLUA Console to continue his romance? As it is, he's currently transformed, and despite repeated use of the AdvanceRealTime command, I'm afraid I seem to have run out of LTs with him. Does anyone have any advice or help for any possible solutions? I'm decidedly uninterested in restarting my game, though I suspect I will eventually, as I want to do at least one Kensage/thief run, and I could very easily do it on that run. That being said, however, I am was planning to continue this game into TOB, but I don't particularly have any terribly strong desire to play TOB more than a few times, due to the depressing linearity of it. Any suggestions?
Oh, and I do still have an Underdark Save, so I'm going to just try a Move to Area command, and see if I can do everything involving that first.

If, of course, this board is still alive xD
