when do the cutscene to the 'throne of bhaal start'?

I'm still on my first play-through of the triology - taking me many months :). And it's years since I'd played the throne of bhaal, so this is a newbee question:

I think I done all the quests - I've killed Irinicorous (?) in hell and wiped 'watchers keep' and now there's not much more to explore...
Do I have to import the savegame in the throne of bhaal-startmenu? - or do I need to do/kill something in the game to get further?
Wasn't the idea with the triology that it happened automatically...connecting the 3 worlds/editions...
