Definitely sounds like the safest thing is simply not to reinstall mods once a game is in progress (unless you're happy to abandon the game of course)

Editing the 2DA files sounds safe, even if a characters stats end up being inconsistent then I can tweak that in ShadowKeeper.

Hi Dabus,

Don't worry: I backed up my entire installation directory before touching a thing. I've restored that and have made no further changes yet. I wouldn't dream of changing anything before making a full backup.

What I did was add a few options to BG2Tweaks to change the levelling/THAC0 tables, everything else was left unchanged. From what The Bigg has said, it should be possible to use Weigui to change the installation options, and then Weidu should be able to change the installation from the updated script.txt file. Without doing a manual fresh install or restore from backup first.

There clearly was a problem with the re-install, which I'm not going to try and diagnose with this particular installation. In my case, it sounds like changing the THAC0 tables directly as Miloch recommended is the way forward.

A general question: When you change any installed mod, can you consider your saved game broken? Only certain mods?

Just following up on this old thread because there's not a lot of info out there on using AI scripts in a megamod.

With the BGT/Big Picture megamod installed using Big World Setup, I found that most the normal AI scripts didn't work well:

- eSeries - didn't really work
- Yovaneth's ysSeries - better but spell casting especially was erratic
- SCS II script - worked fine but it's a limited script with no spell casting or special class support
- aScript - thief script works very well. This is my preferred script for my thief.
- BPSeries - this is working very well, both offensive, defensive and restorative spellcasting is intelligent though of course it won't fight the harder battles for you

So aScript for my thief and BPSeries for the rest of my party. The catch is that you need BP installed.

I'm still on Baldur's Gate 1, if my findings change as I get further in then I'll update.

This is why I suggested just editing the 2da files in a text editor instead. It's easy - just consult the IESDP for formats.

And that's what I'm going to do, I just thought it was worth giving WeiGui a go. My install is just a BWP install btw, I haven't even run the cleanup batch files so everything should still be there. Obviously something is awry though. I'm averse to a full reinstall because I don't want to lose my save files.

Thanks for your help everyone, the 2da files look quite straightforward so I'll just edit those and put them in the override folder.
