I did a check on this problem and did find a few references to it by other posters, but I haven't been able to find a satisfactory solution.
Anyway, I've had some problems with my current install, so I wanted to restore the backup and push through a lighter mod package to hopefully clear things up. When I did my initial install, I used the backup option in BWS and it went through with no issues. But when I go to restore the backup, it deletes everything and restores all the backed up files, then hits this message:
CDCreani does not exist
DESound does not exist
According to the BWS beta-testing page, these files are not necessarily vital to the game and in fact could possibly exist in foreign language versions of the game. I searched through the CD data and found CDCreani.bif in CD3. As an experiment, I placed copies of it in the Clean Install folder and in the various subfolders, but it was not detected by BWS.
Since different posters said that the files mentioned aren't vital, I was tempted to go through with the install anyway, but the next screen said that there were mods still present, meaning that the backup did not go through all the way like it should have. In the beta-testing thread, there is a mention of deleting a certain line in one of the files in the Includes folder of the BWS install to help solve the problem. But when I use Notepad to open the file and search out that line, it leads to the middle of a code block filled with so much code that I'm afraid to touch anything lest I launch missles from NORAD or something.
The thread discussing the problem was made back in 2010 and I have the most up to date version of BWS, so I'm kind of surprised the solution (if any) hasn't been implemented by now. If anybody can help clarify the workaround for this problem or if there is a better solution, I'd greatly appreciate it.
