My name is Ken, and this is my first post here at SHS (Because I've got a problem)
First I'd really like to thank the developers for making BG even more fun to play, I've played
1, II and TOB, off and on for some years now, this is my first Mega-Mod, but on to my whine...
At the end of BG1, I've Killed Sarevok and now, Duke Belt, is sending me on to Amn. I hit
Continue. The screen flashes, "Loading Area", then it all goes Black, Blank, Nada, no
Inventory, no Avatars, Background music stops. I can Alt-Tab in and out without anything changing, Task Manager shows BGMain.exe running at100% which is normal (2 Proc Dell XPS 1730, running XP Sp3. The screen does not quit or become unresponsive (I waited about 15 minutes). Alt-F4 will quit out normally, with Boo missing me. I've googled all kinds of, Duke Belt, Go To Amn, Stuck, BG1 to BGII, or BG2. Read the F.A.Q.shere, Sorcerers Place, Gibberlings3, Blck Wrym. BGT's everywhere. Searched Forums and am stuck. Im using Big World Fixpack 8.3, Installpack 8.3 The Big World Setup, and the rest of the relevant files in your BWP Download section. BG2 Loads to CTB and I can do the chores,or FF, to Chateau Irenicus, Spring Minsc and J. Without any problems. I've attached my WeiDU Log. Balder.err is 0 bytes. Cache, Temp and Tempsave, are empty.
I've seen a couple of other things that were odd, in that some item descriptions were very strange i.e. some items like swords or helms had Item descriptions. For instance. "Splint Mail
is a variant of Banded mail" for a sword. Occasional stuttering but moving saved games over to
virgin copy fixed that. I've never had a CTD.
So does the "Loading Area", (when it goes black), mean that its waiting for an area file (that
isn't there) to load?
     Let me know, what I need to do (I don't code), in baby steps please, because I'm on some
really, really, good pain meds. If I have to, I can reinstall but I'd really rather not.
