TobEx vs Afterlife

20 February 2025 - 11:37 AM

According to the PDF,  several mods had issues with some of TobEx's components.  I'm wondering if anyone with Afterlife installed also has these mods, and if so are there any issues?

I'm asking because Afterlife is apparently going to put its own version of these components in.

The mods that were reported are:

Spell Revisions - apparently had issues with the blindness component, giving incorrect spell descriptions if it's installed

SCS  - puts in it's own version of several components, namely Blindness, Stoneskin, Mirror image and Silence on Charm.

Yasraena NPC (and apparently other npcs as well) reported as being incompatible with Disable Force Inventory

In addition, I've noted the following mods installing similar sounding components.

Allow All Races to Dual Class    and   Remove all race-class restrictions

Konlan's Tweaks component --Remove Dual Class Stat Restrictions

Tweaks Anthology -- Expanded Dual-Class Options  and  Alter Dual-Class Restrictions

No idea if those have the potential to cause problems or not, but thought I'd point them out :)

Edit:  SCS has no options corresponding to Blindness, Mirror Image or Silence.  Error in the PDF.

Question about an old mod

13 February 2025 - 10:34 PM

Still going through the BWP install PDF.  It's referencing a mod called "Enhanced BG2" ... talk about an unfortunate thing to call a mod!

Anyways, I'm thinking it's hopelessly dated and shouldn't be included anyways (since EE came out ... that name's now confusing as hell), but tried to snag a copy for completeness sake and failed.

The forum is here:  http://www.shsforums...anced-bg2-cont/

All the links I found are broken.

Wondering what the community thinks ... leave it out of the new manual?

[WIP] Revised BWP Guide

08 February 2025 - 04:00 PM

Still plugging away at the revised BWP install guide.

Have hit an area that's more public opinion than anything, so thought I'd ask.

The mod in question is  BIG PICTURE v181_4611.  This mod installs it's own version of two other mods, namely Tactics and Ascension.

I'm guessing this mods version of Tactics would be preferred, as it's more recent (and Leonardo cites it as "improved" in the PDF).  That's up for debate tho :)

Ascension is another story.  I'm guessing the new version would be preferred, not the least reason being that mods like Longer Road look for it in the log, and won't install if you only have the BP version.

Since both Tactics and Ascension are installed later in the process, I'm guessing they're either going to (A) overwrite these components or (B) conflict with them in some ungodly way.  Possibly © both :)

For now I'm basically leaving component installation suggestions as they were in the PDF, but this could be confusing to new players.

Would appreciate any feedback on this issue :)

Oh, and one more thing.  The PDF is constantly mentioning compatibility issues with the mod TOB-Hacks.  I vaguely remember it, but can't find it anywhere.  Does anyone still use this?  Safe to remove references to it?

mod debug files

02 February 2025 - 09:48 PM

I'm rewriting the BWP install guide.  In order to get the mods component questions right, I have to actually install them.  ALL of them.  My game directory is a nightmare.

It seems to me that once a mod is installed, mods coming after it would look for information about it in weidu.log, not the mods debug file.  If that assumption is correct, then it would be safe for me to simply make a debug directory and move those files there.  That feels right, at least.  I am, however, an idiot and may be about to do something extremely stupid.

Can anyone set me straight here?
