BWP 8 Install Freeze

24 October 2009 - 10:21 PM

First off, I apologize for apparently being the only person who can't seem to understand how to get even the standard version installed (as, including this one, the two most recent help topics have been posted by me). Anyway...

I've successfully completed the setup (I downloaded the version 8.0 on the website...the program searched for an update and I believe it updated, but I'm not sure...the installer, however, is version 8.1, which I manually downloaded and extracted to the SoA directory) for the mimimal mods + most of the recommended + many of the standards with no errors or conflicts. Things smoothly transition to the install batch, at which time I have disconnected from the internet, stopped all other programs from functioning on my computer, and selected the standard install option, and adjust the widescreen dimensions to 1280 x 800. Again, no problems. After I get to the hit any key screen, I stop using my computer at all, and periodically check back on it. However, 3 times (after each one I've actually done a complete uninstall/reinstall/re-setup) the install has frozen. The last time, I waited 6 hours after I noticed it freezing, and it still hasn't progressed. The first freeze was copying a BGT core file. The second freeze was something script related to yoshimo (can't remember that one well). And this freeze (which I still have the untouched DOS prompt running in the background) is at the following line:

[WeiDU-Backup] Using scripting style "BG"

And it's been that way for 6 hours.
From the only other post I've read on freezing during the install, I realize you might need more info, but I wasn't really sure of what you need and how to get that information into this post.
Also, I read that there was some combination of pressing "n", renaming some setup file in the directory of where the program froze, and some other stuff I don't understand; which would allow me to resume the install. As it is, I'm not really sure how to go about doing this.

Anyway, thanks in advance for any help.

BWP 8 Install Error: AutoIt Error Line 209

23 October 2009 - 12:36 PM

I'm running 64-Bit Vista (UAC off). When going through the BWP 8 standard installation (minus all the mods that the setup program indicates may cause conflicts e.g. improved vallhala horn, drintz npc), all the downloads seem to finish successfully (and the download test was successful). However, right at the end of the download portion (I can't tell whether the error occurs at the beginning of the next portion of the install, or during the end of the download portion of the install...if this information is crucial, I could go through the install again), I receive the following error message pop-up:

AutoIt Error
Line 209 (File "C:\Program Files (x86)\Black Isle\BGII - SoA\BiG World Setup\Debug.au3"):

If StringInStr($p_Array[iNum-1],'#EndRegion Debug') Then Return SetError(1,0,'Does exist')
If StringInStr($p_Array[^ERROR

Error Array variable subscript badly formatted.

When I okay the error message, the program closes.
Upon restarting the install, I receive the following message:
Your previous installation was interrupted.
Would you like to proceed with Au3NetTest at setup-generalized_biffing.exe?
You can also start a new installation or edit your settings.

Do you want to continue your installation?

When I click "yes," I receive the original "AutoIt" error again, and the program once again closes. Also, when I tried restarting the installing the program, I once again received the same error. And I apologize if this problem has been previously solved or is due to my missunderstanding something in the FAQs, but a forum and google search only lead me to one request for help in a German forum. Thanks in advance for any help.
