Using a Wild Magic Surge effect in an Item?

Wild Surge Table pg. 38-39

NO# Rolled -Effect

96              -  Spell cast at double effectiveness

99              - Spell cast at double level
. . .

1) How would I go about identifying these effects for use / Are these viable for items?
2) Have there been any other mod items (or in built into the game ) that affect caster level (without actual level change) that I have missed?
3) What is the definition of effectiveness in 96?

Side Note:
49 - Caster Recuperates as if Rested
4) Is this the same effect as restore spells-spell from wish? - IIRC SPWISH16 Again item possibility?

BG Style Portraits for BG 1&2

The Name says it all, I'm looking for portraits that look like the vanilla portraits.
I guess I like mods to blend into the game.

I have searched quite a few sites but only found about three that could pass off as the originals.

Some of the best portraits, I've found here at SHS:
Bardess's awesome picture EDIT: Has since changed, I was referring to the dark-haired portait with red armor one)

And the other portraits that are edited + spliced from other ones like
Vicen's here,

Is there anyone who is known for this style? Are there any individual examples?

Anything would be great.



p.s. I'd just like to say that my ability to reply to anything is and was impaired due to the lightning that fired my internet connection a few months ago, at the moment I'm using a friend 'net. Cable still isn't fixed let alone getting a new modem.

Just a couple of questions

1) Is the jury out on who the seven mysterious people discussing <CHARNAME>'s fate at the end of BG2 are?

2) At the end of BG1, is it safe to assume that all those statues are representing the Bhaalspawn, and are in some distant plane or are they in a very VERY deep hole in Sarevok's lair? Imagine dropping your keys down their accidentally!  :blink:

(Minor) Balance - Familiar Spell

Firstly, If this isn't the right place for this please move it.

Aes - Chain Creature (name still negotiable)

ATM I only need to finish the animations and the spell.

The creature's attack/ability is similar to the Druid entangle spell (the one with the green vines). The creature wraps around the enemy impeding movement and doing constriction damage.

I need a balanced value for the damage the constriction does and how it will be handled ie saves and stuff. The creature needs to be powerful enough to be useful at the end of SOA but not overpowered. Suggestions?


EDIT: This site is becoming so useful for this mod. Its for an assasin vine (?)
Constrict (Ex): An assassin vine deals 1d6+7 points of damage with a successful grapple check.
Entangle (Su): ) (Ref DC 13 partial). The effect lasts until the vine dies or decides to end it (also a free action). The save DC is Wisdom-based. The ability is otherwise similar to entangle (caster level 4th).


Would this be balanced?

PS. It's an odd feeling when you find out you're a supervillain :o

Minor Bug

I think this is the right place for this

When I do the challenges in the pocket plane the areas are the wrong way round.

This is what I mean. When you finish a challenge the area changes, such as the lava pits (where you face yourself, if you had been in Sarevok's place) to the oasis. But in my games, about 50% or so of the playthoughs I get the oasis first and then it changes to the Lava Pits. Any one else had this problem?

This has been happening since before I've used mods, after I've (official) patched it + before I use mod, while I'm using mods etc. So I don't think that is the problem. Any Ideas?
