BG1-style fireball spell -- is it possible?

08 November 2008 - 05:03 AM

I much prefer the old BG1-style fireball -- it looks much better than the BG2 animation, IMO.

Is there a way to replace the BG2 spell with the BG1 spell? I believe the BG1 spell is found in Tutu, which implies that it should be possible for BGT.

Thanks in advance.

Summoned Hobgoblin Elites are...hostile

16 September 2008 - 08:34 PM

I'm not sure what the problem could be. I intentionally refrained from removing the summoning cap or using BG1-style summoning spells. Yet my Wand of Monster summoning gives me six or more monsters. It bears mentioning that Ogres, etc. are NOT hostile--it only seems to be the hobgoblin elites. BTW, this error occurs when I start a Throne of Bhaal game, too. Right now, I'm in the BG1 portion.

Here's my Weidu log:

Using overpowered familiars in BG1--your thoughts

15 September 2008 - 08:57 PM

Having finished the BG series several years ago, I'm on my first run-through of BGT. I have SCS (I and II, using BG2 spells in BG1). I'm playing at Hard difficulty.

Basically, my NG conjurer's familiar is making mincemeat of most anyone. It's a Pseudo Dragon. It regenerates health, it has 18 DEX and every round has the chance to knock the target unconscious...for 120 seconds.

Maybe there's something wrong with my game, but it's only taking one or two hits to get an enemy unconscious. And the familiar is almost never hit, so I just send in my familiar to knock everyone unconscious, then sweep up the rest with my fighters.

For example, I just killed Mulahey by sending up the familiar.

Pseudo dragon did (7) damage to Mulahey
Mulahey -- Unconscious

Or my battle against an Ankheg:

Pseudo dragon did (3) damage to Ankheg
Ankheg -- Unconscious

My initial through was to change the Pseudo dragon's attack in Shadow Keeper, but I can't figure out how to tone down the "knock target unconscious" part.

I like the little guy too much to get rid of him, so I'm wondering if I should just look at this as a major benefit of being a spellcaster.

Why can't you watch all movies like in BG2?

Hello,

I've searched the forums, but can't find the answer to my problem.

Basically, I'm editing "baldur.ini" to add the following:

[Movies]
REST=1

IRONTHRN=1
PALACE=1
TAVERN=1

ENDMVE3=1

Yet I still see the same few movies--the company logos, the intro movies, and the death movies. In other words, the movies I've actually accessed in the game.

Is there put all movies into the "movies" list in the main menu? Why is it that this works for BG2, but not BGT?

Thanks in advance,
