I imagined that Irenicus gained control of Spellhold and that is when the dreams began, he was working out of his evil little sanitarium like every decent mad scientist and putting all sorts of disturbing thoughts into CHARs head. Sort of like Freddy, only much cuter ;)
Ah, but the dreams don't end until you're in Spellhold dungeon, and you recieve the last dream after becoming the Slayer. By that time, Irenicus has left you for dead, and is expecting Bodhi to finish you off. Seems a little overzealous of him to continue throwing bad vibes at you after he's got what he wants... Yes but if you notice, the dreams after spellhold [I believe, not 100% sure] do not have Irenicus in them. I thought of it as the dreams after Spellhold have more to do with the taint, and then Ellesime comes in them...the elves seem to like hopping in people's heads ;)

Hmmm, I was always under the impression that Irenicus knew what he was doing. I disliked how Irenicus was made into this "super power", considering that he was just a mage, not superman, nor a god....yet.

I imagined that Irenicus gained control of Spellhold and that is when the dreams began, he was working out of his evil little sanitarium like every decent mad scientist and putting all sorts of disturbing thoughts into CHARs head. Sort of like Freddy, only much cuter ;)

The idea that they were caused by the taint or brought on by the character's own conscience seems a bit bogus to me, much of it had nothing to do with the exact taint but rather the power to be harnessed from it...Irenicus had to keep his memory fresh in the char's mind anyways, to guarantee his arrival at Spellhold eventually.

Also, I would think that Irenicus would have gleaned knowledge of the char's past from his various experiments, and knew what his weaknesses were [ we are dealing with a super-villian here], hence using the environment of Candlekeep and his past enemies.

Wow! That is one of those thoughts you kind of take for granted...you know Irenicus had to pass his own tests, but it was just one of those semi-comprehend things :)

LOL that was alot of BG2, I got so tired of so much script that I just clicked through it fast and didnt read...a product of playing for way too long at a time!

Maybe some admittance on her part that she did have some of her own feelings and insecurities in the decision would make the logic flow more, or that she needed to hear those words for herself just as much as for her people.

Also, if she was his wife and lover, wouldn't she know that this was an impossibility? Especially at this stage in his life?

Exactly my point. I am glad you have noticed this. :) I want to keep it subtle enough so that a smart player can figure it out without me hammering it into his/her head.

Thanks for your input!

Do you wish to beta-read more dialogs as I write them? Just email me. I think I will no longer post them anywhere but will share in private emails. :)

Oh - I would be delighted.  If you have any sketches  - send them to me. I was planning to use either the BG II poster as a base for the mask ( the one with Ellie's head in the crystal ball) or a Blood mask picture from Magic of Faerun. But if you can draw something unique - please do so!

Cool...I've done a few rough ones, but I'll put some serious time into them once school is over. Four more days, woohoo :)

Yep! I emailed you a response, but let me know on here if you don't ever get it...some of my freinds haven't gotten stuff I have sent, I don't know what the problem is.

In Topic: 3 rd dialog of the Longer Road

Ooooh, Irneicus romance, the anticipation!:)

I think that Irenicus in theory *could* romance a human, but it would have to be rather difficult. As in, you have the say the EXACT right thing, no if ands or buts. Also, I think the intelligence/wisdom requirement would have be exceptionally high, maybe even 16 or so. I think that a half-elf would almost be more difficult that a human, half-breeds are looked down upon quite badly. Really though, since the char is a Bhaalspawn, I think that would make up for the human-ness. Maybe something in the end could grant the char immortality, if she agrees to stay human? Just a thought...already done by Lord E I do believe, in RtR.

Romance would be incredibly difficult with Irenicus anyways, he has enough demons to overcome just in himself. It would have to be rigorous, moody, sensitive, and yet all at the same time highly intellectual. This romance has the ultimate opportunity for quite a bit of in-depth discussion and debate over matters of faith and principle, especially if the char is not pursuing ascension.

Anyways, to the dialogue...I felt the Cyric dialogue needed a bit of spicing up, he is my fave deity to write after all ;)

"You are lucky Demogorgon is still suffering from the consequences of his bout with Helm"

I think Cyric would say something along the lines of "fortunate"...lucky is a bit common.

The petitioner you are seeking was transferred here from the fields of Blood War, and you have very little time until he is wanted back.*

I doubt he is going to be of any use to you*, even with all your cunning. The imprisoned spirits tend to go raving mad after a few months in the Abyss, or else turn into slavering sycophants, and this one is not even the whole spirit. Some sort of an oddity I believe, but you were always interested in aberrations, were you not? That fire giant spawn comes to mind. In any case - enjoy your little adventure in Hell, my mortal *friend*. You would not need my help in getting out of here, would you? Good. I shall follow your progress from afar. I hope that this last challenge you?ve set for yourself will not prove to be your doom. (exit) "

*Maybe "and you have been granted only a brief amount of time to exploit him" or something along those lines, a tiny bit stronger, more disdainful?

* "I doubt he will be of any practical use, even for such a cunning mortal as yourself" maybe?

That's all I've got for now, great stuff :)
