I deleted this part of the preinit.bat "2>&1|BGT\Install\mtee Setup-BGTDOS.DEBUG" and now mine installs, I have Windows XP, but go figure, it worked.

I'll do that again tomorrow; I know that BGT says that both my BG and BGII are good installs. When I tried to use BiG World the first time, BGT gave me the same error.

This could not help at all, but I think something is going wrong when this is going on from the tp2. . .

I took that out just to see what would happen, and I it did have an error, but it was one much later on. Here's the error report.

Yes my last reinstall was done in a fresh directory with no other mods and patched fully. . .the messages make it look like the program is trying to uninstall instead of install for some reason.
