I have a question for the casual visitor/member: What aspects of BG2 annoyed you the most that can be easily corrected via a mod?

TOB definitely.

As one of many speakers of the FWBA (Forth Wall Breakers Association) I must insist that you leave the others alone.

While I fully agree, about ToB is one of those major annoyances, I'm afraid it's out of this topic's question.

However, I'm still open to any statements on what ToB is annoying (epic-level hack-n-slash, etc.)

"The PC is an imbecile" regardless of INT.

Notable in several quests, every time you lie (is it really that hard to add "(truth)"/ "(lie") tags, a-la PST, rather then making the character seem like a moron?), and especially during the dialogues with Elhan and Melisand.

Ascension fixes Mel, but your Elhan dialogue still goes "Duh-or - no, I had no idea that Johny was a banished Elf! Dispite reading his diaries. And all the clues scattered throughout the game..."

Feh.

John has Doctor Evil syndrome ("Now I shall put you with all of your artifact level equipment into this easilly escapable death trap"), partially fixed by BP.

Athkathla's economy makes no sense. Dialog and store inventory changes can fix.

All merchants have invisible bags of holding. Change one container near each merchant to match up with his store inventory to fix (complicated part is making the items "free" when stollen from container; don't know if that can be done).

Magic is illegal, but you can sell potions, scrolls and magic items anywhere, and buy them almost anywhere. Simple dialog changes would fix.

Artifact level items for sale. Change store files, add encounters.

No bathrooms. Add chamber maids and some comments about the smell of the streets.

Items don't tally with PNP counterparts
NPCs don't tally with PNP counterparts
Spells don't tally with PNP counterparts
Maps don't tally with PNP counterparts.
that's all folks.

No time limits on any of the chapter 2 quests; though someone, I think, is working on this. It really makes no sense to hear about a quest, say Troubles in Trademeet, on day 1 of a game and have it play exactly the same whether you go there immediately or don't get around to it until day 50.

Not only does the PC's INT not affect most quests, neither does race or alignment. A CE drow/cambion sorc can overwhelmingly get the same options as a LG human cavalier. In a human-based, magic-hating society like Amn, that makes no sense.

edit: Yes, I know this ignores the adverb "easily".

ToB.

I liked the first three, but only as isolated occurences. ToB in general sucked, funny that changing that would remove 2.5 out of the other 3 items too... :)

Don't know if this can be fixed by a mod, but the "Are you sure you want to leave? Boo will miss you." annoys me every time. This is aggravated by the fact that I killed Boo and Minsc a long time ago. :D

Seriously, it's probably the timelessness problem of the game. Aran Linvail tells me to meet up with Mook that night, so I leave, kill Firkagg, Faldorn, a bunch of trolls and Yuan-ti, a demi-lich, and the twisted rune! and arrive just in time to meet a very unhappy vampire. Okay, okay, so I couldn't get Kangaxx or any of the twisted rune to barely injured before chapter six, but you get the point.

Also, I don't like neeber. I...THINK...HE...SHOULD...DIE! Even bioware was nice enough not to lower your reputation when you BLAST HIM TO PIECES!

Ressurrection options for Mook and several others. You may or may not wish to spend the money, but I want the chance.

Especially Coran and Safana. Former companions, for cripes sake. I wouldn't mind lugging the bodies back to Athakala.

What about timers and a different situation/outcome, if you are too late.

Trademeet- Overrun by shadow druids/ruins only some survivors/ some quests simply gone

Umar Hills- townfolk are now shadows/ salvation still possible

WH- Firkraag waits for you as you are the main part of his plot. :D

D'Arnise keep- empty, Trolls took all the loot (No FoA!!!), hence no XP, big rep loss (possible for the others as well. You did after all accept these quests. People will just know of this when the word spreads of your failure.).

This would be very hard for people who put things up till Ch.6. What about Imoen in the meantime?

In the logic of the game world, most of that should happen regardless of whether the PC accepted the quests or not. So the party might arrive late to Trademeet or the Umar Hills and find little enough to save. As for Imoen, she might even seem better for a longer stay in Spellhold than she does when first met there - except for those two red marks on the side of her throat.
