I've had a couple ideas for NPC's, and I'd like to know what exactly the guidelines to a lesser God taking one of their followers as an avatar are, or if it's even possible without the God losing his position?
And is it possible for a God to hypothetically be banished from his plane of dominion by a higher force, such as Ao and forced to take some kind of permanent mortal form, losing his divinity?
And on the subject of unlikely love, is it biologically possible for a Dwarf and an Elf to have offspring, never mind the unlikeliness of the two ever finding each other attractive?
Hehe.

Gods can take avatars without taking humans, they can simultaneously be in many avatars at one time (greater powers can have more), the only reason they inhait humans is because of the time of troubles and if they want to create offspring (half mortals usually).
I guess it is possible they could lose their divinity if they are not doing what their portfolio describes them doing as they should, for example Cyric was argued as not sowing strife...etc and if it was seen that he was guilty then he would be destroyed (i think).
Don't even want to think about dwarves and elves (asimar+tiefling=assling ).

Lesser power = 2 avatars simultaneously
Intermediate power = 5 avatars
Greater power = 10 avatars

Avatars are a portion that the diety seperates from themselves for a time. However a god can empower a follower or minion as a Proxy. They usually don't make many because they must place a divine rank in each for as long as the diety keeps them as a proxy.
