The differences are more apparent in NWN too

As I recall, there is just one deva in NWN (in HotU expansion, more precisely, in Underdark). Is that the only one or there are others which I miss ?

Does anyone know how long a deva or a planetar lives ? (at least aproximately)

They're immortals, so forever. Of course, they can still die from unnatural causes.

That's the only deva in the official campaigns. There is also exactly one planetar in the same story (taking a very long nap in Baator).

Asmion are created from good petitioners just as fiends are created from evil ones. In most cases the the basics of advancement are pritty similar between Asmion and Archons and Fiends. They start of as petitioners (of various forms) and then are advanced to the weakest members of their respective celestial or fiendish race. If they follow their natures well and advance the goals and beliefs their respective races hold, they earn a more powerful form. The specifics of such promotions vary wildly, but the genreall idea is the same.

There are both risen (good) fiends and fallen (evil) celestials. It seems much more common for a celestial to fall than for a fiend to become good, at least when their relative populations are factored in.

Most celestials (including all Aasmion and Archons) and all fiends are immortal. They will never die from old age.

There are great differences in appearance, intelegence, duties, and powers for the various ranks.

Actually Yugoloths don't increase their numbers with petitioners--they can't. They reproduce by sexual reproduction (they're all hermaphrodites).

Where does it say that? In my PS supplements it says their reproduction is a mystery.

Yes, that is correct some yugoloths can reproduce amongst themselves (I'm pritty sure ultraloths must be promoted to that station, and the Baernaloths can only form directly from their plane). They also do not arise from petitioners, but they can form spontaneously from Gehenna and the Grey Waste. I confused this part with spawning from petitioners.

This is in "Faces of Evil, the Fiends".

Tanar'ri can also reproduce sexually, all besides the true Tanar'ri that is. They have to accend to their station.

Baatezu males are fertile, but their females (and obviously genderless ones) are not.

They're the NE fiends who mastermind the Blood War. They're also responsible for stripping the ability to Teleport Without Error from the other fiendish races. Scary bastards, even if they aren't any more powerful individually than the other types of fiends.

I wouldn't go say that. The Tanar'ri and Baatezu started the Blood War themselves. The Yogoloths are the NE beasts that are hired as mercenaries. The Crawling City on Gehenna is one of their main cities. Sages say they use to come from Hades, but that plane has become to much of a battle plane for the Blood War (source: Manual of the Planes)

Nope, the Yugoloths are the ones responsible for manipulating the Tanar'ri and Baatezu into starting the war.

Apparantly they also created the Tanar'ri and Baatezu by removing traces of Lawful or Chaotic individuals from their ranks, leaving behind only true Evil.

Those are all rumors. No one really knows the truth. It's left open for the DM to determine.

Though "officially" the Yugoloths did not create the Baatezu, probably did not create the Tanar'ri, and probabaly did not initiate the blood war. They do however help balance it. The Blood War profits the yugoloths and they do not want to see one side gain a clear edge over the other.

BTW besides the Tanar'ri, Baatezu and Yugoloths, there's at least one another fiendish race, namely the Gehreleths.

Unknown to me, I know a few other inhabitants of the lower planes like Bladelings on Archeron, but they are not really finds. I also know a few demons/fiends who are not Tanar'ri, but do live in the Abyss.

I think the theory that the Yugoloths created the other fiends is just a racial ego boost. They do seem to have long term plans that go well beyond what the others have though.

The Gehreleths inhabit Carceri, so even many people within the D&D universe won't have ever heard of them (considering most who travel to that plane never return).

It is an established fact that most of the creatures who call themselves Baatezu did not originate from the plane of Baator.

Baator was inhabited before the Baatazu arose, but the first Baatezu did come into being in Baator.

Archons are lawful good.
Asuras are chaotic good.
Aasmion can have any good alignment.
Guardinals are neutral good.
Eladrins are also chaotic good.
