Then again, some people think hes the primal force of evil in the universe... but that just doesnt make sense. Maybe if he were neutral evil, it would be justifiable.
Besides, do you hear about archdevils walking the prime during the Time o' Troubles? Nope. Proof he isnt a god.
Edit: Fruther proof, indirectly, is that the demon lord Graz'zt is accounted for during the Time o' Troubles. He has Waukeen (goddess of trade and stuff) as his prisoner, in the abyss.

And if Asmodeus really is Ahriman, one of the creators of the entire multiverse and its planes, then Ao would have no authority over him or his realm (the Nine Hells).

Probably weaker because Demogorgon it's only a lesser power and he rules only one layer in the Abyss, while Asmodeus is the supreme leader of the Nine Hells. How powerful is Demogorgon as opposed to Asmodeus?

Why that, Archmage ?Asmodeus and Ahriman... I would say that if Asmodeus was Ahriman, the war between Demons and Devils would over.

Surely invading a tiny, insignificant little planet in a universe with an almost infinite number of worlds would be an even bigger waste of time? Especially as the gods of that world would stop the invasion before it even began. If Asmodeus really was Ahriman, I think that he would have ended the war because its kinda pointless waste of time (even though they have LOTS of time) and moved on to something more interesting, like sending his minions on Toril or something like that.

or something like that
Yes, I can see that but the Blood War isn't much more interesting. Any ideas what would Asmodeus do IF he was Ahriman?

Nightmare, Ahriman being one of the creators of the multiverse, how could the gods of Toril stop his invasion ?Surely invading a tiny, insignificant little planet in a universe with an almost infinite number of worlds would be an even bigger waste of time? And, BTW, about the insignificance of Toril, I don't think it's so insignificant. Asmodeus would not have forbidden the lesser lords of the Hells to invade Toril if it was so.

As for the pointlessness of the Blood War, well, that'll keep going for as long as the 'loths want it to. And why would any planar, be it archdevil, demon lord or archon, want to invade any Prime world. If you kill every living thing, sure you get a big influx of souls initially, but if everythings dead, no-one else will be born.

Yes, it is a possibility that Asmodeus has indeed forgotten who he was in the past though I find that very unlikely since Asmodeus is so powerful being. And yet again, it is always a possibility.

If Asmodeus really is Ahriman, his biggest goal wouldn't be the invasion of a petty little prime world, or even winning the Blood War, his biggest goal would be to kill Jaziarn.

BTW, who is Jaziarn ?Maybe the present Asmodeus isn't even the first Asmodeus and Asmodeus is merely a role taken on by every new Lord of Nessus.

He probably wouldn't be inclined to interfere directly because ) he has more important things to do. Heck, the most powerful demons and devils aren't even particularly concerned with the Blood War.Nightmare, Ahriman being one of the creators of the multiverse, how could the gods of Toril stop his invasion ?
Even if Ahriman did attempt to exert his influence over Aber-Toril, Ao would simply call on his boss (who's presumably another creator of the universe) to step in and stop him. I'm sure Ahriman is well aware of the danger of beings who're hundreds of times more powerful than the most powerful deity getting into a fight with one another...
The rest of Aber-Toril's gods would be more than capable of banishing the "regular" demons back to their homeplane the moment they arrived in Faerun.
I was under the impression they were forbidden from invading anywhere in the Prime, not just Toril. And, BTW, about the insignificance of Toril, I don't think it's so insignificant. Asmodeus would not have forbidden the lesser lords of the Hells to invade Toril if it was so.
