 ok i've been playing AD&D for 5 years untill end of july last year (moved) in that time i have noticed something about halflings so can i get info from u guys/gals, here it is,

halfings stand about 2-3 feet tall i belive,

long swords-(all swords classed with long swords '''large or medem sized weapons''') i belive are 3-4 foot in leangth

so this is my problem how can a halfling hold a long sword with one hand and a shield in the other, i find the long sword to big so the halfing would have to hold the long sword with 2 hands,

can someone tell me if i'm wrong and tell me the stats for halflings, and long swords

In 3E, Halflings are Small creatures. They have to use 2 hands to wield a Long Sword. :)

NWN implements this correctly - I'm not sure what the case was for AD&D.

Third edition D&D handles it as Andyr said--you can wield a weapon of the same size category as you with one hand, or one of one size category larger with both hands. As he said, though, that only applies to 3ed, and in AD&D, I don't think there were any penalties to a halfling using a larger weapon.

IMNSHO, this is where the Player/DM "character sanity check" comes in. AD&D strongly emphasizes the role of common sense in roleplaying. Just because there is no explicit rule covering a specific set of circumstances, does not mean that it makes for good roleplay.

I agree...it doesn't make sense to roleplay a halfling using a glaive, after all. Or a trident...

:D
Softleggy, the halfling berseker
two weapon style **** warhammer/bastard sword
STR: 15 barrel destroyer
CHR: funny :turnip2:
I am the whispers in your head
Letting you know you're the next one dead
I am the blade that cuts your skin
That forgives yourself for all your sin
I am the guilt that gnaws your soul
Corrodes the heart to a gaping hole
The hammers pounding all around
So you beat the walls to rid the sound
I am your memories, distorted and loud
That make you scream and shreik aloud
Yes, I make you crazy, it's all my fault
That we're here alone in this cushoined vault
