I just posted the request for the area with Sol Ek Sa.

And to show I do look at the polls, though not many are voting, I will post the general idea of The Wizard Tome of The Bleak Academy.





As we all know power corrupts and the lust to power corrupts. This is also the case for Anarachon. Already a mage of considerable power, enough power even to be left along by the Cowled Wizards thanks to corruption and bribes, he has gotten the thirst for more! As mages so often do so does Anarachon, he dives into books in search for power. He stumbles on old documents of the Bleak Academy. An organisatin, which once extended him an offer to join, but which he refused as he wanted all power for himself. The documents tell of an old "outpost" school of the School of Dark Magic. It has been attacked in the days far gone by pesky heroes of light and good. They slayed the teachers of this dark academy and most of the students. It now stands abandoned and it is said that due to sudden attack not all could be saved, the heroes of light and good (luckily a lot fell) where not interested in these tomes and magic items and left them there. Anarachon wishes the powerfull tome that has been left behind, the rest is for the fools daring enough to go in to take along. His reward shall be great as he will surely earn it back ones he gots the tome.

The only problem I have is that many of these stories are a bit too black and white. Good and Evil. The good story types are not always "the holy goody-shoes" vs. "the powerful evil necromancer", and are not always . Sometimes something that might seem good is really something evil (or what we define as evil) and vice versa. Sounds a bit too conservative if you ask me.

You wanted comments, right? I can go on whining...

This is but one quest, I will take your comments into consideration, but probably for other quests. This one needs to be black and white, which you would know if you ever read something about the Bleak Academy.

Furthermore the mod is Darkness in Light, it ought to bring evil quests in, so one can earn xp by being bad. Though it helps of course also neutral characters to outbalance against some other quests.

Scanning has been done and Lightspeed has gotten the prints. They indeed would burn it, but the Bleak Academy ain't stupid and got some magical traps and other secrets.

A little more on that in the topic Quests and others. Perhaps you can revive the discussion. We talked there about new evil strongholds.

Necro's aren't always bad, most of them are, but not all. The Bleak Academy also holds place for Black Guards (3.5 version of the Anti-Paladin I reckon).

Anti-Paladin is an base class and Blackguard an Prestige Class(PrC), so they are quite different in background, abilities and lifestyle.

As far as I can remember Necro's are always non-good ones...



And this quest seems the right one for the Anti-Paladin kit I found. B)

Again I disagree if you think about AD&D did not have Prestige Classes. A Kit is the closest what comes to a Presitge Class. The Anti-Paladin and Blackguard are both the nemesis of Paladins. Their counter-polls so to speak

P.s. which mod includes that kit again. I kind of lost it.

*sigh* And again you misunderstood it. There are many evil warriors out there: Blackguard, Anti-Paladin, Corrupter, Warlord of Utterdark, Warrior of Darkness, the Demon Lord Thralls and the Arch-Devil Desciples, to name a few.

I never said anything about that AD&D has, or not has PrC's. I simply said that Blackguards and Anti-Paladins are not the same and was never the same.

This *is* about the quest, isn't it? I don't think we need to worry about prestiege classes/normal classes here. For instance, if I really wanted to rant on how underpowered arcane necros are compared to clerics, I could. However, I must admit that, as it is, it isn't worthy of our time. If you wish to play an anti-paladin, create a custom kit. If you wish to create a prestiege class, excellent! They'd be rather hard to code, but more power to you! As is, this is about a mod that may or may not add such options, and this particular thread is about a quest, not that, if I remember correctly. But don't let my curmedgeonly-ness stand in your way, hrm?

Ah, you've chosen the Bleak Academy. Lovely choice for a quest, especially if you've done a little background researching. If I remember correctly, the Bleak Academy is the ultimate proving grounds for those interested in learning the Dark Arts.. So perhaps, to add some political intrigue, the anti-heroe's discover it isn't as abandoned as it seems? Regardless, you seem to be going about this wells, and I'm quite pleased with the research you've been doing.

Thanks and sorry for the mix up in the conversation. It is probably due to the fact, that english isn't my mother language and I sometimes misunderstood something.

But Anti-paladin and Blackguard are quite same I think. They both are, so to speak, champions evil. Tell me what you think is the difference between the two, besides the point that one is a Prestige Class and the other kit. I mean, I reckon that the general idea behind the kit/PrC is more or less the same. If you tend to disagree, tell me why. What do you reckon is so different? Cause apparently I am either missing something or we just seem to disagree on this matter

The problem is that I may not use the Anti-Paladin kit. I never got reply to my mail (one who I have send a long time ago and Weimer didn't react), when I thought about asking if I may use this in my mod. So I am not pressing on with this.

The only possible solution would be to learn how to code kits (And I didn't intend to) or ask someone else to code a kit called Blackguard, which would be very similiar to the Anti-Paladin, but not entirely.

And indeed I got the idea thanks to a book I have of D&D 3.5 Tome and Blood. So I have done some research.

However can you perhaps explain a bit more what you mean with the anti-hero not being alone? Are you talking about an anti-paladin that founds out about a Bleak Academy that has been destoyed? Still makes you kind of lonely, I reckon. Or am I misinterpetating your words? If so please explain.

1. The Anti-Paladin is an Chaotic Evil-only class, while the Blackguard is for all evil alignments accessable (Lawful Evil, Neutral Evil and Chaotic Evil). Big differents.

2. The background, story and livestyle are also different. Anti-Paladin destroy&hate simply everything they see and even kill their allies simple out of fun, after a while. Blackguards are less destructive, deals more with fiends and actually plan their battles against the chelestials very good. Also, big differents.

3. Their abilities are much, much, MUCH different from each other. If you look in the Player Handbook, or Duengon Master's Guide you'll see it with your own eyes. Huge differents.

Whoops point one and two taken. Especially point two. Point three, yeah off course there a bit different, but both are fighters with some spellcasting ability. But I do see your point. Might make a Blackguard kit, if someone helps, after all...

I believe there is (or was( a Blackguard kit out there... in fact, I'm positive. The only problem was that it never got quite developed enough to be released in WeiDU. However, somewhere at least there is an almost complete Blackguard Kit.

I just installed the Anti-paladin kit, but that isn't an Chaotic Evil-only class. Therefore point 2 is a little unstable as well. Point 3 is still very valid.

Read my post carefully: I don't mean the anti-paladin kit out there for BGII (its not the anti-paladin from WotC), but about D&D source books and rules. Check the Duengon Master's Guide and/or the Player Handbook if you doub what I'm talking about. Maybe you find also some infos about it on the WotC main page.
