All I hear people talking about is Morrowind. What about the originals, like Arena, Daggerfall, and Battlespire?

I'm playing Daggerfall right now and I also got Arena waiting to be played, but I don't think I'll ever play Arena. You can download Arena for free from the Elder Scrolls site. www.elderscrolls.com
Battlespire and Redguard are more action-puzzle than RPG, so I never bothered to get them.
Daggerfall is a great game and I think the biggest RPG ever made. It's I think more than 30 times the size of Morrowind, but some things in the game are left unfinished and when it came out in 96 it had so many bugs that it was sometimes called Buggfall. You realy can't play it without the pach.

I tried playing Arena, but it just isn't worth it. You might as well uninstall it right now lol.

It won't work on XP? I mean, come on, it's not THAT old...actually, I don't think it's old at all...XP certainly has it's pitfalls.

Played Arena. I remember it as being very good (for the time). Played Daggerfall many, many times. Incredible, in some ways better than Morrowind (unlimited freedom, unlimited random quests, huge numbers of "hidden" quests). Morrowind would rule all except for the lack of NPC interaction and the speed with which your character moves from weakling to Uber-God.

Redguard sucked, in that many lines were voiced and you couldn't skip them quickly, so you wasted valuable time listening to some idiot drone on.
Daggerfall was superb, but you needed very good spatial memory, the dungeons were murder which is why most people cast a 'word of recall' at the dungeon entrance.
Morrowind is okay. Now dungeons are only a level deep, simplistic.
I put daggerfall several notches ahead of Sacred.
Daggerfall guards actually help you against monsters.
Sacred guards just stand around navel-gazing.

Well, nowadays you can download Arena from here: http://www.elderscro...loads_games.htm
You can also download the dos emulator 'cause it doesn't work on the newer systems.

I have played Arena and Daggerfall I still own them, Arena is well, to say it simply, old, many people will not like it simply because they are in love with High res Graphics, and well in the days of the Xbox and GameCube, who can blame them,
Arena also (as mentioned already) wont run straight from the box (or download) on a new PC, however, Arena does have some very nice features that are worth experiencing in a game, more so with Daggerfall, the best game for RPG'ers there has ever been,
Not only are you able to make your own class, you can make your own spells, you can opt to go with the flow of the plot or Not!.
there is no other game I know of that allows so much freedom, the closest level of freedom to a P&P RPG there is.
note though that Daggerfall was made for 486's, a P4 was not even a thought back then, and Arena? well it ran great on my old 386/16Mhz (yes sixteen megahertz)
so get DosBox or some similar DOS Emulator or go buy a old 486 system for $10
and do yerself a favour and play the games, heck you might even get them to run on a Linux Box.
I have to say though, with each incarnation of Elder Scrolls new things have arisen and old things have dissapeared, this like in life in not always a good thing,
but then that is probably why the good people at Bethesda had the forsight to give us the Construction Set.
if they have Elder Scrolls 4 on the map, I hope it is to Morrowind as Daggerfall was to Arena.
