Yay, necroposting!

The way I see it, a real "one-with-nature" druid(ranger) should only be eating fresh fruit and vegetables, perhaps water. No bread or cheese or milk, eggs or meat, no cooked food at all. (I don't know how it's called in English; not vegans, right? Because vegans seem to eat bread). It's much more fun this way.

But D&D creators may well have a different opinion, and more power to them. We are not speaking about some universal druids, it's D&D druids, so it's okay if Jaheira tries some fried chicken once in a while, right?

You're thinking of "Raw Foodists". ;)

The last time I played a druid in a pen and paper game, I was an evil aligned druid from a different planet dedicated to the destruction of the surrounding nature, determining it to be inferior and corrupted simulacrum of the home planet. That was also a game where I had an ape companion, summoned an ape, transformed into and ape, and cast spider crawl so my ape pack could run on the ceiling. I subsequently began quoting planet of the apes, "No ape shall harm other ape" and such and attacked a party member who killed an ape under the command of my brother, who was also a druid in the game. It was literally as fun as a dungeon full of monkeys.

oh and also to be on topic, yeah druids are like the necromongers from Riddick: you keep what you kill.

The 21 lessons of Merlin, thee most ancient text from the druids that survived, Merlin mentions to Arthur that a true druid is mostly vegetarian 8 months of the year. The 4 months of the year, in winter, are for fasting and sacred ritual with the animals they kill and eat. Spring is for the rebirth of life for all living creatures.

It's an individual choice. As in real life. the most compassionate characters would be vegetarian.

And the least so will be cannibals ...

Now I'm wondering about the possibility of cannibalistic druids...maybe this would exist in certain cultures.
