'We eat the gazelle but when we die we become the grass and are eaten by the gazelle and all is completed in the great circle of life' -Mufassa
I could sooo see a druid saying that.

Not to be nitpicky (or myabe TO be nitpicky), but which "vore" you are is determinedd by your species. All humans are omnivores. Soem just choose not to eat meat. Some druids place more importance in plants than animals, and so they may well be carnivores . I should think the majority are omnivores though.
You may now resume your normal viewing.

I fully agree with that. If Ao wanted Druids to be vegetarians he would give them a beakProlly not because they probably believe in the balance like in the Lion King

Letting you know you're the next one dead
I am the blade that cuts your skin
That forgives yourself for all your sin
I am the guilt that gnaws your soul
Corrodes the heart to a gaping hole
The hammers pounding all around
So you beat the walls to rid the sound
I am your memories, distorted and loud
That make you scream and shreik aloud
Yes, I make you crazy, it's all my fault
That we're here alone in this cushoined vault

So how many Druids joined their orders because they wanted to learn Call Woodland Beings? Are you kidding? Would you be a vegetarian if you could summon up meat on the hoof any time ya want?

Yeah, lack of protein and protein substitutesDruids are vegetarian because they are too slow (and too weak because they eat no meat ) to catch animals, though, and äääähhhh vegetables haven't the joice to run away!

In fact, various player handbooks and such actually address this question specifically.
"I read about the evils of drinking, so I gave it up." "You gave up drinking?" "No, I gave up reading..."

Which would explain why Elanee in NWN 2 was so weird. She couldn't think properly any longer from lack of protein.

The way I see it, a real "one-with-nature" druid(ranger) should only be eating fresh fruit and vegetables, perhaps water. No bread or cheese or milk, eggs or meat, no cooked food at all. (I don't know how it's called in English; not vegans, right? Because vegans seem to eat bread). It's much more fun this way.
But D&D creators may well have a different opinion, and more power to them. We are not speaking about some universal druids, it's D&D druids, so it's okay if Jaheira tries some fried chicken once in a while, right?
