Director would have to be Peter Jackson, of course. Who else has managed to NOT fuck up the original?
Okay, actually, Jonny Depp could direct, too. He just does everything right.
But as for movie of PS:T... I think of all the Bioware games, THIS would be the most moviable (I'm inventing words... heh) of them all, since it has the most plot. And it ain't too "big" like the Baldur's Gate saga, which has a gazillion different possibilities and since a movie can only follow one line, you'd have hundreds of people screaming "YOU GDMFSOB!!! THAT'S SUPPOSED TO BE THIS WAY; NOT THAT WAY!!!" (and they'd probably make <CHARNAME> somekind of paladin... blech...)
Hmm... cast... I don't think there should be any. I think it should be animation, like Final Fantasy (at least as good, too!). With original voice actors.

TNO would actually be played by Micky Rurk... (you know... Wild Orchidey, 9 1/2 weeks) Check him out in Sin City...
Dakkon would be played by the guy who played The Last Samurai...
Nordom and Morte are voiced by the same guys who played them in the first place...
Anna - Eliza Dushku.
