Thanks for the heads-up Fallen Paladin.
Anyway... 2 games which I've played over the past 1 year that were utter disappointments...
1. Lionheart (no pause and issue order functions)
2. Sacred (no pause and issue order functions + nonsensical A.I. i.e. my hero is battling a Dark Elf, right next to a garrison, of 20 guards, and they sit around navel gazing?!?! What's up with that?
I only hope Obisidian Studios (Fallout 3?), the Bard's Tale, The Fall and Fable are good...

A lot of good games here uh, let me add one that I dont think much people around these forums has played:

People, try playing Divi-Dead, you can dl it where u can dl mostly like everything else (programs like emule, bitorrent, or my beloved DC, not garbage programs like Kazaa) its a horror theme hentai game, and believe me, you wont wanna play it for the hentai, as the plot is very good, if you like playing tru a virtual novel kind of game try it and u will be surprised, very good history, really, the kind that makes you feel astounded, much like PS:T.

There are better games, IMO. Planescape: Torment lacked in some aspects.

Final Fantasy VII: Best story ever made, even though Planescape's comes not far behind. These two are in a league for themself, though FFVII takes the first place. Combined with almost the best music ever made, the characters, and everything else, it's the best game.

Baldur's Gate 1+2: Even though the Story isn't as moving as the other's, this game excells in everything else. I've played it over and over and over again, and won't stop. Will probably play this untill I die. Best characters, best fighting system, and very good allaround.

Planescape Torment: Not so many characters, the music wasn't that good, and the fighting system were kind of boring... But yes, the story alone is more than enough to give this place a honorable third place.

I loved the music to be honest, but then again I have weird tastes in music :drunk:
I apparently have a high level of empathy, combined with a low level of sympathy... weird

In the wake of destruction progress is made

I am who I am, and none shall change me

I am mostly impressed that someone posted the words FinalFantasy and RPG in the same post.

Personally did not like that game at all, deleted it rather quick. but anyways its an "interactive movie" not a rpg game.

R.P.G : ROLE PLAYING GAME

For me, it isn't an RPG if you don't have any real power over the development of your character, i am talking about plot and character interactions here, not which shiny sword to hold.

None of the FF games can even touch the kind of storyline illustrated in PS:T, it's pure insanity. Sure, cool music, and the weapons had nice gleamy bits on them and yeah, FF7 was a truly great game with a very good storyline. What it didn't have, however, was the kind of provocative character/pplot development in PS:T. PS:T wasn't a game, it was an experience, it was more like a chapter in my life than a game, the things it made me think about and the responses it provokes from me even if i play it today, is truly astounding.

All people have the right to their opinion, but if you're going to say what you think, think about what you say! FF games don't provoke the same sympathy for the characters as PS:T did, certainly not for me or any of my game playing friends.

Plotwise, I think Fallout (the original, not Fallout 2) comes the closest to Planescape: Torment, or at least is most similar to that of Torment.

Both start with a fairly mundane task which develops into something much, much greater, and culminates into a confrontation against a formidable foe.
Fallout: Looking for a water-chip leads to a confrontation with the Master and his Mutant hordes.
Torment: The search for a lost journal leads to a journey across the planes, leading to a final meeting with the Transcendent One in the Fortress of Regrets.

The actions of the main character in both games results in actual consequences for their choices. For example,
Fallout: You take the "evil" route by assassinating Killian for Gizmo in Junktown, or you can take the "good" route by exposing and killing Gizmo and bringing order.
Torment: You can side with the Dead Nations or Many-As-One. For Torment, even the small actions and words could affect you alignment.

Both games usually offer a peaceful solution to most conflicts. Even the final boss fights can be avoided through dialog.

No matter what the Vaultdweller and the Nameless One did during their journeys through the brave new world around them (be it championing all that is good and just, or causing wholesale slaughter of innocents), they could not change their final fate. The Nameless One will ultimately be doomed to an eternity in the Blood War or oblivion just as the Vaultdweller will be ultimately banished from the vault.

Of course, Torment is still the uncontested winner between the two, because of its colorful characters, who are much more memorable than their Fallout counterparts.
I mean, come on, the favorite Fallout NPC of fans was Dogmeat!
