Err... Jester, would you PLEASE mind explaining what your last 2 posts were talking about? I'm really not getting it...Try to imagine Brad Pitt sneaking around in LA. That is my argument about fame being the death of covered ops and being sekrit.

What this really comes down to is this: you think that Chloe's banters with Yoshimo are unsuitable, while I think they're not. Anything either of us "finds" in the game is going to support the opinion we already had, and none of us is likely to change our mind.JPS - Give me an example of Yoshi bragging about stealing something. Not about being very good at picking a lock, sneaking through the house, getting his man and getting out... but about being a good "Thief".
"And after that, when he's working with the party, he does exactly what the player tells him to do (usually disarming traps and opening locks, which might not be "thieving", but it certainly isn't "bounty hunting" either). "
From which we may imply that whatever his banters and character record conspire to tell us, Keldorn is actually really into slaying commoners with his Casrsomyr...
And yes - it is established that Yoshi is a bounty hunter, not a thief. It is established that if and when he boasts, he boasts about being a successful and capable hunter, whose name strikes fear into the heart of criminals.
Until someone gives some solid evidence to the contrary, this remains a fact.
The reason that I got into the discussion to start with was that you seemed to base your argument on the name of Yoshimo's class, and I tried to point out that not everyone would see that as a solid starting point. I still think your arguing is a bit shaky (in BG II terms, a bounty hunter is a thief, so "he's not a thief, he's a bounty hunter" isn't really an argument as much as a contradiction in terms), but I really don't care enough to keep this going. Good night.

Quoted from my second post on the subject. I would have quoted the whole "Distinction between guy who steals thing and guy who has Thief as a class (or a sub-set kit of a class...)" thing... but it seems fairly obvious that Chloe means the stealing kind...
Anyways... the thing is, that I supported my claim with facts from the game. Yoshimo's class is only one of them (though it seems like a fairly big "Duh" inducing one). Another big one is that - Spoiler - Yoshimo's whole purpose in the game is to bring a bounty to Irenicus.
You, on the other hand, haven't supported your argument in any way, and have gone on to conclude that "Seeing how you fail to change your mind despite my lack of arguments, I can see there's no talking to you - I'm taking my ball and going home." Which is unsporting and pointless (personal netiquette point coming up) - if you feel like stopping your participation in a discussion, simply stop posting in it.

If so, he most certainly is a thief

I'd imagine that a bounter hunter would rely on a good reputation. Chloe may not like Yoshimo drawing attention to himself but it goes with the territory. So Chloe babbles on about how being a famous thief is bad form...

It's hard to sneak up on an unsuspecting criminal when everyone knows your name and what you look like and has warned the criminal that "Yoshimo is coming for you, watch out!"I'd imagine that a bounter hunter would rely on a good reputation. Regardless, I don't think Yoshimo is as famous as he'd like everyone to believe... or at least that's the impression I was given in the banters the other npcs had with Yoshi.

The game itself is not much of realistic.
An example: party of: a paladin, Keldorn, Aerie, Jaheira, Mazzy, and any of the good npc you can think. Let's say you want Edwin in your party, you know what you have to do: assasination, thieving... not good, not good, the thing is that you can do that without being punished... npcs may protest but you got away with it...
The point is, I think, even if Yoshimo or Nahlia or Jan or Imoen are "good" guys, if you send them to steal something, you make them bad guys, because, rovery isn't a good thing, no? I don't understand why you can have a good... alineamiento (sorry, I don't know the word) and still can kill or steal...
you know what a mean?

But dont you need a reputation as a bounty hunter or assassin, so someone would hire you? Its not like "hey you there, yeah... ah... you want me to kill someone for you?"It's hard to sneak up on an unsuspecting criminal when everyone knows your name and what you look like and has warned the criminal that "Yoshimo is coming for you, watch out!"

I always thought it was obvious (after finishing the game the first time) that the reason that Yoshimo was constantly telling people his name was that he was trying to descover who else was in Irenicus pay and was hoping to avoid any conflict with them.
There are a few banters that help my theory and they mostly take place on the island just before you enter spellhold.
