I don't necessarily dislike these as portraits, but personally I find the whole trend rather unsettling. This truly seems to be the twilight of artists, the dawn of promptists, and the boom of waifu-makers. We may be a decade or two shy of the promptification of several major aspects of our lives; just some food for thought posts like this always give me.
I get you, the real honest truth is I feel we expected machines to replace humans in other industries but that they would never affect art , because that seemed unique to humans.
But thats not the case , as my friend put it , humans always keep to patterns so its easy for a machine to learn off these patterns.
Its why I don't believe the whole thing that opponents like to say that Ai steals Art to learn , because it's learning the same way I would learn if I studied art, learning to replicate an artists technique, the only difference is time, effort ,and the fact you can't see into my mind while you can see into an Ai's data storage but it learns the same way I do, just more efficiently.
But om the other side, So many times artists thought tech would get rid of them from photography to Cgi, but it never has, so time will tell.
In the end I think it will just meld with human art and be used as a tool, or maybe a new artform will come about like you said.
