I've noticed that a new version of Item Revisions Revised came out back in april (1.2.5), while BWP expects 1.2.4. The latest one contains quite a few bugfixes, so would it be safe to use it instead of 1.2.4?

Also regarding "Made in Heaven - Encounters & Quests", I noticed that my weidu.log is different.

Thank you so much for continuing to maintain the PDF guide. It remains the essential backbone of all megamod projects.

Leonardo,

Attempting fresh install with Option #1:

                          G A M E - S E L E C T I O N
                          ═══════════════════════════

Although this tool is intended for a BGT installation with BG1,
you can also install only BG2 with it.
What type of game do you want to install?
      Choose between:

[1]   only BG1 with the BG2 engine?
[2]   only BG2?
[3]   BGT [BG1 + BG2]?

and after "Corrections" receive:

                              M O D S - C H E C K
                              ═══════════════════

The minimum requirements are not met.
The listed mods do not exist in your BGII - SoA directory.

   The listed mods are mandatory.
Please copy them into your BGII - SoA directory and then continue.

Press any key to continue . . .

Yep - Nothing listed in missing mods.

The Fishing for Trouble mod has also been updated, from 3.2.3 (BWP expected version) to 3.2.5. As far as I can see the new version mainly contains fixes and no additional components.

Edit: The Southern Edge mod has also been updated, from 2.10 to 2.30.

Hello everybody,

I would like to report back that on windows10 64 bit using 18.2.4 the problems with the wrong weidu version and with the "missing" mosunpack etc. binaries are indeed gone. Thank you !  It still asks everytime about the location of "Big World Downloads" although it is right there (with the right capitalization), so I enter it manually every time. No Problem.

My installation appeared to go smooth  (including SCS 32.6), but I am  yet unsure if I got a playable game in the end. I will have to investigate this tomorrow. What basically happened was that the command window the installpack was running in simply closed (of course while I was not watching it :-). So, I got no big message "Everything installed successfully, press any key ...", assuming this is what should happen. The weidu.log shows a successfull installation of all mods and mod components (if I did not miss something) up to and including the lolfixer. But there is no generalized biffing entry, I am not sure why. Might this be connected to me choosing "Do not clean up" in the earlier installpack setup steps ? Or perhaps I forgot to include the archive in the BiG World Downloads, will check tomorrow.

Best Regards

Hi Leonardo and :

First, good news.  I have 6 TB and all is working well.  Here is how it works with Windows 7.  (My apologies to all those who know this.)  You need a BIOS which uses both UEFI and Legacy formats.  Install the large e hard drive.  I have a 4 TB hard drive. In Computer Management, open up Disk Management.  On your large hard drive, go to the extreme left window and click on it.  It will show you all the options to convert the large hard drive from MBR to GPT.  Then convert the GPT drive to as many partitions as you want. Instructions are also there.

Now for the bad news. I installed a megamod game in E:\Black Isle\BGII - SoA\.  After the game installed, the BGConfig.exe and Baldur.exe looked like the older Baldur's Gate not the Throne of Bhaal style when I opened them to config and start the game.  When I went back to  my Desktop, I found the baldur.ini file on it, not in the game???  I opened up the baldur.ini and here is what I found.

[Config]

CacheSize=1024

[Program Options]

Path Search Nodes=50000

That all there was.  I had started a game after I installed BGII - SoA and it worked well.  I put the balder.ini from my test run in the game.  It had 141 lines of code.  When I went to start the game, the game would not start because the game would not recognize the Throne of Bhaal CD,

At the beginning of the game installation, the cachesize=10000 and Path Search Nodes=400000 were the values.

If anyone has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate them.

I will reinstall BGII - SoA and Throne of Bhaal.  Then I will check the game as frequently as I can so I can identify where there is a problem.

Tom

Hello  again !

Sorry for the lengthy post. I re-ran that installation today from scratch. Again it did not work, but the command window stayed open, see below.

There is a bit of uncertainty as I ran out of time and did not have time to take the weidu.log with me. The installation fails after successfully installing  components of Lolfixer, I confirmed that in the weidu.log and in the command window. The MAJESTIC Spell Fixer ist installed for sure. I am right now not absolutely sure the MAJESTIC Store fixer is installed correctly. Either it fails while installing MAJESTIC Store fixer or while running Generalized Biffing which would be the next component, because I neither have Sandrah Item Restoration nor do I try to install the Divine Remix Sphere System (which would be a modification of closer?.bat anyway ?). All mods, with one exception below, from my individual.bat install correctly.

Now, the interesting output in the command window is this: First "Syntax Error", then a complaint about "ungenügender Speicherplatz" (german localization) and then I get a command prompt. I am not sure how that "Speicherplatz" should be translated, it might translate to either "disk space" (more likely) or "memory" which are two quite different things of course. Either one is very confusing to me: the machine has 8 GByte of main memory (and managed to crunch though SCS 32.6) and the disk has about 150 GByte free !

I will ascertain on Monday what the last Lolfixer component is. But if you have any ideas how to debug that further I would be really interested in those ideas ! Is there a way to start either closer1.bat or closer2.bat directly by hand in the failed install to see what happens ? I might also try to start Lolfixer and/or Generalized Biffing by hand. An attempt to simply start the Installpack again in the previous install from yesterday ended in it starting to deinstall everything ...

There is one mod which fails to install. Aerie in BG:EE v1.1 is missing a tp2 after unpacking. Checking the mod directory it actually does not contain a tp2 at the top level.  So may be that is an archive packaging error ?

And one very last remark: La'Viconia has been renamed in Viconia Revamped and the version bumped from 5.0 to 6.0.  As far as I can see 6.0 is not compatible with the current Big World Project as there are additional components. But may be it would be good to include the newer version (the old one is still available of course) ?

Thank you for reading this far !

Best Regards

Hello tomkaz,

After the game installed, the BGConfig.exe and Baldur.exe looked like the older Baldur's Gate not the Throne of Bhaal style when I opened them to config and start the game.

my first impulse is to blame it on any anti-virus software, built-in windows defender or a separately installed on. But this is really just a wild guess.

If I forget to disable windows defender while running the Installback it simply hangs, apparently windows defender protects the weidu.exe's from being updated. So what you report sounds different.

Best Regards

Erhhm, I don't understand !!! As when you install the BG2 - SoA +ToB + patch, you need to run the game to have a fully compatible game... it can't have the BG1's Config.exe -like anywhere near it... that's place should be for example here: E:\Black Isle\Baldur's Gate\ <- ...
The BGT will copy the needed files from BG1 to the BG2 DURING it's INSTALL. It does not move a thing. aND the games, NEED TO BE IN TWO DIFFERENT DIRECTORIES.
At the beginning of the game installation, the cachesize=10000 and Path Search Nodes=400000 were the values.
Those values are out of your ass, and are not good at all. The MAX cache size is 2000 ...so you effectively just put it to zero.

Hi The Imp:

Thanks for your comments. I can always depend on you for good comments.  I did not know the max cache size was 2000.  But what bothers me is that I always religiously used Cache Size = 5000 and I always used Path Search Nodes = 40000.  I have used these same numbers for at least the last three years.  So the other numbers are bothering me.  But thanks for the information about the Cache Size.

I have the line "findstr /I /M "3D.Acceleration=1" baldur.ini" in sections 1 and 9 in Individual.bat.  I have seen that line in section 1 before, but it never interfered with the game.

Spoiler

Hope the Spoiler worked.  Shows some lines I have never seen in baldur.ini before.  I do know where the  Cache Size=1000 and I always used Path Search Nodes=400000 came from.  I know I did not use those numbers.

Tom

Hi All:

I have a game started with 245 mods.  A few minor problems, mostly my own fault.  But so far the game is very playable. The color test failed but color is OK in  the game.  Characters started the game at ~level 8 in CandleKeep.  Initial random monsters are in groups of 10 but I assume that is because they begin the game at higher levels.  The only difference between this game an the previous two games is that the game was newly installed and the mods in BiG World Downloads are matched to the versions in BiG World Project.

I am using a 32 inch screen with WideScreen mod.  Any suggestions for a comfortable size.  I used 1600 x 900 but that is too small. I forgot what I did to prevent all the hidden stuff from being moved around.  Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Hope all the others who may have had problems have as mush good luck as I have had.

Tom

No it's not, your head is just too far from the monitor.
Well, that or you can use 1366x768 or 1280x720...

The level 8 start from BG1 is a old bug that was fixed, forgotten, fixed and forgotten ... and probably it has to do with NeJ, yet again.

Hi The Imp:

Thank you again.I will be starting a newer game tomorrow so I can check out 8 start.  I do have NeJ in my list of mods. Will VCv21 also give the 8 start?

I previously used 1280 x 720 with a 27" screen and like that a lot.  I had my catoracks replaced 5 weeks ago. It is taken some time to get use to the "new" eyes especially the distance vision.

Tomkaz, I advise you not to install Widescreen. There are so many reasons, but I'll just copy you the most insightful post I've found about:

https://forums.beamd...#Comment_182498

And in this case those "different strokes" are people who A) understand what BG is supposed to look like, and B) people who only care about fidelity. You're not supposed to see the fog-of-war when the camera is centered over a party member. At all. The widescreen mod zooms the camera out to two massive detriments: first, you CAN see the full fog of war (which can be construed as unfair advanatage--or cheating--and more importantly it renders around 75% of the game screen pointless. You either see black unknown map, or fogged map with no NPCs or enemies... making it pointless.

Baldur's Gate was meant to be played with a certain "window." Widescreen mods completely break that. Complaining that the UI is scaled up and looks slightly blurry is quite possibly the least valid point anyone could possibly make

Also, if you are using Nej:

http://forums.blackw...indpost&p=57226

Note:

Sadly I don't have a screen as big as Vlad. That's how I see it: https://imgur.com/a/GXImUxz

Hello,

so here is the weidu.log and a sreenshot of the last output in the command window. According to the weidu.log it installed the MAJESTIC Store Fixer correctly, so all components of Lolfixer were finished. It looks like something in close2.bat ? Can someone please confirm if the output in the command window might be from Generalized Biffing or which other step this might be ? I will probably just try to start generalized biffing by hand in that install to see what happens.

I mis-remembered the wording of the message after the "Syntaxfehler" (Syntax Error). It is "Speicherresourcen" which might imply main memory. However, the syntax error might be the primary error and the memory resource message just a red herring.

I also attach the SETUP-BG1AERIE.DEBUG which shows that a tp2 is missing.

Best Regards
