Please report any bugs here. Also, state which versions and which game you are playing (BGII, BGT, BGII:EE, EET)!

Hello. I love this mod, but I've only ever been able to play it through once (a long time ago). I always have problems with Aidan disappearing after a random talk...on this latest run-through, it was after we discussed friendship, I think. I'm sure this is probably user error: either I'm control-Jing all over the place when he's trying to talk to me, or I'm control-Ting past the point he supposed to show up, or some dumb nonsense. Is there any way to reset his global so he'll show back up and we can pick up where we left off? I got a snapshot of the globals from EE Keeper, but I'm apparently not allowed to paste them here. Could someone tell me which global I need to adjust and what to adjust it to? I can send you the screenshot of the globals if necessary.

Hello Jestey. I got some bug.

Try to start talk to Aidan in graveyard district but its just freeze my game (no crash, just simply freeze), and have to ctrl + alt + delete. Playing on BG2:EE

Hi mt17, did you install the mod in English or in what language?

 

EDIT: Couldn't reproduce with German install, so text transformation seems to work. At which point of the dialogue happens the freeze, right at the start or after some lines? Do you see a dialogue window at all?

Hello Jestey again ! :) I installed Polish lang (fan-made translate) which was for v7 of your mod, but should work for v9

 

Problem was just simply when want to click to Aidan on graveyard district or when on temple discrits (that new character there (forgot her name)) who automaticly starts to talk to us when we are near, so in both situations my game just start freeze when converstation should start - dialog box do not appear.

 

Because u are not answering long time (like i do now ;p) i try to fix it by myself, but i wont reinstall whole mods, what i do ?

 

1. Download your files again of v9 and polish fan-made translate, change all what needed names to fadingpromises2 (folder, files, exes etc) changing some lines in tp2 files to correct fadingpromises2 and also .tra (.tra because while install it its show error with wrong entries on @1000 - just missing it... i also trying to compare your translate to our polish for looking more, what exactly change in .tra, but there was less what i think)

2. Install your mod again as fadingpromises2 and after that it working.

Anyway i dont know why it wont work before (because i do it same in first installation), probably wrong order?

 

I hope you understand what i try to saying here for you (my english at all is bad in correct times (present continous, past simple etc etc).

 

Anyway its fun how i learn something about mods to Infinity Series by editing to fixing some mods by me :D.

 

But could you answer my one question ?

A lot of mods (also in you) in language files attach one file "namemod-EE.tra" ... Whats mean that "EE" ? Its for enhanced edition or what ? I just wonder because i install it without it + just in EE.tra always  have less signs than normal "namemod.tra"

Here's an answer, yes, it's for the Enhanced Edition, the difference is that the EE games use a different item description files than the non-EE games, and so the EE version uses the added in lines when needed. Among other things, the descption file needs to be character encoded in the right format. For English, it needs to be in Latin/Windows 1252. The Polish version of that page could probably tell more to you.

mt17: since the German texts work alright it doesn't seem to be a general problem with language conversion of the mod. For the mod installer - if the language version is integrated - the tra files need to be provided in ANSI format. I d not know which encoding exactly for Polish. Best you ask in the Polish community.

 

If you are using an own translation it depends on how you bring them into the game. If you replace another language folder with the Polish one then the tra files would also need to be in the correct ANSI encoding.

 

If there is a Polish translation that is finished and up-to-date (and in the right format..) I can add it to the mod package.

U can check it, but polish community do not update it more for newest versions (v8+)

Thanks, but I'd need it polished and ready. In case someone takes this on, let me know.

 

Oh, and please in the future: if you have unauthorized changes in your mod version - either tell about it from the start or do not seek for help from the mod maintainer. There is no way on earth I could know you are playing with some other localization when you reported your freezing game. Cheers!

@mt17 I'm guessing this is translation made by The Stars of Mystra, a Polish translation group from Children of Bhaal site. If this is the case I'd suggest to reach to them and ask if they could update this translation to a recent mod version and send it to jastey to include into official mod package. I guess there is a reason they haven't share it with original author back when v7 was still a current version. In any case please DO NOT offer to include someone else's translation into offcial mod package without having original translators consent. It's disrespectful both for them (they may be not OK with that for various reasons) and for mod author/maintainer (who doesn't want to spend time chasing bugs for unauthorized version and also wants to include in the mod package a polished translation, quality stamped by original translators or a person they dedicated to update it).

in short: blank.mus needs to be copied to /music in EE
