Well, not soon, but I was thinking of reimplementing some stuff, like Saemon's monk disguise or the blasted drow hole. But that's in the future, right now I'm concentrating of finding a solution to the BG2EE unixdir error.

So, not really

I am, however, making some compatibility smoothouts. Probably should mention it? I guess?
1. All the REPLACE_BLOCKs are now REPLACE_TEXTUALLY, which helps shorten the tp2. That's mostly a backend fix, however, this results in two features:
a) The BG2EE identifier is no longer used, alleviating one of the issues for both of PPC users worldwide;
b) It ensures compatibility between all the versions. You see, when you install the fixpack, it changes one of the cutscenes I'm modifying, and since you need the code transcribed to the letter it instills some incompatibilities. It fixes the missing text screen, and probably the import system, but I don't think there were issues with that.

2. I added an internal REQUIRE_COMPONENT for the alternate slayer change. The Final Slayer Dream is still not fully-compatible as of the time of writing this post, so it going tits-up while choosing "install all components" would mean being stuck with a gimped version of the change forever.

Also I found a new dialogue to restore. Anyway, the ETA for the update is one hour, unless I miraculously find a way to fix the WinBG2EE but hahahahahahahah

The reason why mods that include BGEE/BG2EE code fail to install on PPC Macs is that WeiDU doesn't recognize EE as an identifier. It also doesn't recognize "LAF HANDLE_AUDIO" as a valid command.

Well, you HAVE to use the latest version(v23600 or later) for BG2EE (to modify it). Yeh, you might not have a PPC MAC compiled v23600... but that's not a our problem, technically. :whistling: PS:

Buy me a new computer, then :P 231 is the most recent version that will run on a system such as mine, and it is impossible to install an Intel processor into a Quicksilver Mac. A G5 or higher would solve the problem, but I don't foresee upping to a newer system in the near future. So, I'll carry on manually editing every .tp2 file for more installation joy *LOL*

Buy me a new computer, then :P

I... can't really do that, as it's too good out from an Imp like me. But you could go and beg and bleed  in weidu forum for someone capable to compile the v23600 with a PPC Mac. Or at least ask for help in there. Wisp might be able to walk you through the walls.

Have just installed version 6.1 for a new playthrough of BG2. Unfortunately, the Imogen dialogue at the lightning switch didn't trigger (no biggie), and the Earth plane crashes the game if I attempt to enter it - giving this error message: assertion failed at ChDimm.cpp line number 7641 - ARO40D.bif - attempted to use compressed bif from CD.

This might have something to do with the Generalised Biffing I installed at the end of the majority of the mods - but with the Imoen dialogue not triggering either, I wonder if I've downloaded a corrupted file?

Thanks - hope this is helpful.

From aurora readme, trouble shooting bits, cause it orks on other places too:

Assertion failed in ChDimm.cpp at line #7641
Exp: pBiffHeader->dwFileType != mmioFOURCC('B', 'I', 'F', 'C')
Msg: c:\{path}\bg2\cd#\DATA\BIFNAME.BIF: attempted to use compressed BIF from CD, check free hard drive space

Sometimes, the referenced BIF will exist, but the game expects it to be in your main \data folder or in \cache\data. Copying it from the cd# folder (or the CD itself) will sometimes work. Other times, you may need to use DLTCEP to decompress the BIF. To do this, go to Extraction > Uncompress BIF. The decompressed BIF should end up in your main \data folder. Relaunch the game and see if this resolves the issue.

I've both moved the AR040D file from the cd, decompressed it, and moved it to the date folder - crashes every time. I'm going to keep playing and see if any of the other components bug out. The Plane of Earth does not seem to be happening for me.

Thanks for the advice though, Imp :)

Welp I got here too late. Anyway, the Plane of Earth is probably the buggiest component I've ever written, which is caused by me being unable to give up and have it be a copy of Windspear Hills. Right now it's working status is determined by tarot readings, Sun's distance from the centre of Milky Way, amount of hairs on your body and what you had for breakfast the day second plane hit the tower. I can't find a single repeatable reason for it not working. If it's any consolation; it's pretty bad.

About the Lightning Machine dialog, I don't know why it hadn't fired off. Was your CHARNAME close to Imoen? It relies on it. If not, it'll be skipped.

The earth plane map crashes because it's using ambient sounds which are stored in different BIFF files. BG2 has issues in that regard. You can either remove the ambient sounds in question (i.e. "Ambient 14" and "Ambient 15") or use COPY_EXISTING for AM0414A5.WAV and AM0414C3.WAV in your TP2 script.

Erhm, the decompressed files should go to the override folder unless there's a file there already. And of course that should be done before the Generalized Biffing  ... so the risk of contaminating modified files is zero. :P

Better to do what Argent77 says.

I guess original work can also somehow take my mind off the stuff that happens in my real life. So... new version.

1. I fixed the bug above which was caused by me not correctly typing the inlined folder name. Now, the fact that it went away from me for so long was caused by me never installing the Polish version. It actually doesn't need to be a Polish-Only component, but whatever.

2. If you give all your stuff to Nizdramanii'yt, you're gonna get a description of him leaving.

3. Viconia's banter had numbers instead of replies. It's a memento of how I lost all the stuff I've been working on when preparing V5.

4. Meeting Volo now gives you a journal entry.

Sorry it's not anything major.

Have I missed something in the Plane of Earth?

The first Earth Elemental mentions a two-legged cat and asks me to talk to the Air Elemental bandits

Briefly met the Maharajah who then Dimension Doored away before I could do anything

Found Hsss and the Air Elementals

They say that if I negotiate their passage back to the plane of air they'll give me a book

Back to 'Guardian' - no new conversation choices

Back to Hsss - only new choice is to say 'no way out unless you batter through the Prime Material Plane

Then found a dust mephit, asks me to kill some earth mephits - I do

So he runs off to Hsss, who then kills him

So NOW Hsss says, want to hear my offer? kill the guardian and they can escape - so I did (plus about six Earth Elementals)

Back to Hsss - he only says want to hear my offer

Helpppp!

just wanna mention i did this and it now works fine. which is wierd as hell as my other super mega mod install the area loads fine yet with this small-ish install (no big mods) the area crashed. i deleted the two ambient files from the area file and now it loads perfectly fine. whoo!

Well uh you didn't miss anything, the whole area is just pretty bad
I might've made a scripting mistake somewhere. The whole idea of the plane of earth is that its ultimately pointless, you cant help hsss, you cant get the info from the mephit, you cant kill the guardian. I was influenced by NieR when writingg that. Also, in a hurry. But honestly, though; i'm a coder at heart, not a writer. So it's just bad!
It's one of those things I regret including but it's too late now. So either I hire a writer or just convince me Kulyok to adapt it for UB.

KULYOK IF U R READIN THIS I LOVE U ALSO WRITE MY STUFF
