I remember when TDD came out. I went and looked at it, and I commented, "Gee, they haven't gotten a new grammar checker since DSotSC, have they?"

Then I looked some more, and I commented, "Xzar is an elf. Elves can't be necromancers. And he no longer has enough Wisdom to be a necromancer even if he was still human."

And then I tried to uninstall DSotSC, as the spelling and grammar errors had gotten to be too much for me. And it wouldn't uninstall. I spent a I've heard you get to kill Cyric in it, is that true? (Fisticuffs with a deity is, I'm afraid, pretty much an extinction-level offense for any mod in my eyes.)

You banish Cyric's avatar from the Prime Material Plane.

BTW: CtB, SOS, TS are all great mods w.o. grammar errors. And you can install WEIDU mods on top of them. ;)

Adding to Galactygon and other BP fans, the kit issue could be a problem since all the slots are filled by TDD (which is part of BP - whether we like it or not, atleast the spelling is fixed!). Additional kits have to replace something else.

Also, the new BGT-BP-NeJ megamod gives Imoen a new class that is based on the thief but with some magic abilities. So now we have 2 kit options for her. Glad the Imoen Romance didn't have one also :D .

I'm not sure where you're going with this...

Are you saying that no mods should include kits since TDD has already stolen all the available slots?

I'd haveto say hell no. Its not for 1 mod to decide the fate of all other mods.

However, a clear warning should be made to the person downloading this.

And one more thing. Accept my humble apologies everyone, my following words aren't meant to be offensive, but:
some of TDD's kits are..well.. lets say a bit sketchy. While that mod does fill out all the possible slots for kits, it doesn't mean that those kits are the best choice (some of them ARE!). And talking about SA, give it a try, and you'll experience a way more detailed and technically advanced character than most other custom kits. ;)
This will be the natural standard for any other Refinements kits in the future as well.

<_<
I'd rather say a clear warning should be made to the person downloading TDD.
We're not filling any slots, and all the components will be optional.

Now I really want to give my opinion on this compatibility matter.
(I don't mean to be harsh  )
There are modders who take their time to learn WeiDU, and learn all the availabe means to render their mods as much compatibile with the rest as it is possible.
There are mods that don't give a damn about the whole issue, add LOADS of stuff (without using separate components!!!!) in a so exagerate quantity that I doubt they can even be tested for half of their content, and guess what?
People complain about compatibility with us!

And don't tell me that they are old mods, and cannot be converted. WeiDU has been here for years.
(RtW is also a BIG project, and it's being built in WeiDU).
Imho there are two possible reasons for them not caring:
1-they don't want to spend more time with that.
2-they'd want, but they're still occupied in removing bugs.

I can try to work for compatibility for other WeiDU mods, since in a way.. they're doing the same for me.
I'll listen and work on any compatibility requests of this kind (In truth, I'm already doing this).
We'll try to use a "good policy" in coding, so that probably some components would compatible even with them, but certainly we don't feel in charge of resolving the problems created by TDD, or BP.
I know they also contain good things, but if they don't start to address compatibility issues themselves, I can't start for them. :)

Ever forward, my darling wind...

I think TDD was pre-WeiDU. Hell it was developed mainly pre-ToB. However, the attitude is definitely the first one. Both Max and Minto have abandoned TDD, and even the "caretaker" team seems to have got bored. Nobody loves it.

But really, this argument's not going to go anywhere. No matter what BP fans say, there's nothing more to be done. The kit is optional in Refinements. The end.

In the words of Corvis, bad writing with grammar is still bad writing.

a mod which used "by the same people who created DSotSC" as its main selling point

It's even funnier because it actually wasn't. But you wouldn't know that from playing it. Ironically, DLTC could claim it was "from the people who brought you TDD", but Max prefers to pretend it never happened.

Adding kits as an option is the best solution. Would it be possible to select which kit it should replace? Meaning that for those with TDD or BP, we can "kill" a kit we didn't like and would never play (personnaly thinking druids here)? Or would a new kit have to replace a predetermined kit? I agree that several of the TDD kits suck big time but if I could remove one I don't like for this new kit, it would be great. This SA does sound like a new kit I would like to try.

Actually, a mod that allows me to remove kits would be great...

Corvis says TS, SOS, CtB is written badly then? Or SlidMang0 hides behind Corvis' mask? <_<

Almost surely not, in any case not without building a totally schizophrenic installer...

Actually, a mod that allows me to remove kits would be great...

To my knowledge, removing lines from the tables is not possible with WeiDU (I mean, not without just copying your versions of the tables...)
Then again, WeiDU is not really planned to interact heavily with the user.

I figure the only way is to use manual and ad hoc solutions.
For the Sword Angel to work, I'd probably could ask you a couple of files, free the last fighter kit slot (freeing it for Humans and Half-Elves should be enough), and then you should be able to install it.

What would happen then with the rest of TDD's modifications, it's beyond me :P

When I've played around with BP a bit, I've never had any trouble caused by subbing out a line or two of kitlist.2da with the appropriate line for the morituri kit I like to play with.  You could (were you feeling generous) add a bit about how to do that in the readme for people who would like to play with BP or TDD.  Just a thought.

I can do that, but in any case no one should absolutely mess with KITLIST.2DA.
Thanks to the new feature Wes added to WeiDU for me, the lines of that file are now connected to the lines added for each kit to the KIT.IDS file, which in turn is used by our scripts.
The references are created automatically by WeiDU so the order CANNOT be altered manually.
And ALL the kits installed by Refinements use scripts, one way or another, including the TWENTY "shadow kits" used by the new HLA system...
But really this is not a problem, KITLIST.2DA is just a... list of kits!!!
*NO SLOT* is occupied because of an entry in that file.
Slots are "occupied" when you add a kit in the *specific* kit list of each race, which lists kits available at game start.

So, the *only slot* that Refinements may occupy right now is a fighter slot for Humans and one for Half-Elves, both for S.A. :)
TDD and so BP probably fill those as well, but if you delete the last line of K_F_H.2DA and K_F_HE.2DA before installing S.A. and let our installer handle the rest, then it should work (I think).
