Hello. I'd like to report a problem with sound. After installing Fading Promises, the sound starts to stutter. Every time the party is moving into another area or when I'm loading saved game, a sound - maybe some kind of drum? - is heard right before the proper sound characteristic for particular location. It goes on and on, the more this sound repeats, the more I'm annoyed, to this extent that I must uninstall the mod. It happens even with the mod's hotfix installed.

May I ask for fixing this bug?

I hear it, too, and I have absolutely no idea what causes this.

I listened to all the sound files with NI (none of them have this sound in them), I replaced the "blank.mus" with a working copy just in case it might be not as blank as it should be, I updated the songlist.2da patching. The sound is still there, as szmatan pointed out directly after loading a save or loading a new area after travel.

The only thing this mod does differently than others I know is that it also adds a TextScreen("B!AIDTXT") with connected sound (which is also ok if listened to).

If anyone has an idea what might cause this, I would be very happy for suggestions.

EDIT: Totally forgot: thank you for pointing that out, szmatan!

I'd suggest to look for instances of the OnCreation() trigger. Script blocks with this condition will fire whenever a script is processed for the first time, which happens e.g. when a saved game is loaded, the party enters a new area or a new creature is spawned.

You mean OnCreation() used in the mod? It's not used in the mod as far as I can see. :(

I don't even have a good idea where to start looking - should I disable all sound installation, for example? Or something else?

If you can identify the sound file you could look for PlaySound() instances referencing this file, or use NI's reference searcher to see where else this file could be referenced.

In the mod I don't find a sound file that contains this sound. It sounds a bit like the "plump" you hear on a standard Windows machine when clicking on a file in the Windows Explorer. Maybe it's some kind of "error" noise from the game because it's expecting something that is not there... I am clueless. I guess for debugging I would have to disable parts of the mod to be able to narrow down what is causing this.

Thank you for ideas, nontheless.

Oh, I found it! After some more intense debugging I replaced the "blank.mus" with a working copy from another mod and now the annoying sound upon loading and area transfer is gone. (I would have sworn I did that already but there you go.)

I am very happy to say that this is fixed locally now, too!

Then you could do the next logical thing and upload a fixed file as a .zip archive to a post so there's no need to WAIT for the next version.

Yep, Jarno Mikkola. my Mega Mod FAQ. Use of the BWS, and how to use it(scroll down that post a bit).
OK, desert dweller, welcome to the sanity, you are free to search for the limit, it's out there, we drew it in the sand. Ouh, actually it was still snow then.. but anyways.

I did something better: I updated the official download. ;)

Thank you again szmatan for reporting, I wouldn't have noticed this for this update, otherwise.

Better... hmm, and you just assume that installing a 100++ mods and yours, it is easy to just update your mod.

Not that I did that thing, but someone surely already did.
