CTD on BWP transition from BG1 to BG2

Install: tactics

 

Action: After I tell Belt that I'm ready to go, he wishes me good luck and then the screen goes black for a few seconds. A cutscene begins, in which the party stands in the south-west corner of the map. The characters are killed (except Sandrah who is removed from party but is alive) and Imoen, Minsc and my main char appear again revived with no items in the middle of the map. Then, Imoen and  Minsc are removed from party, a cutscene begins and then the screen goes black for a few seconds and then the CTD occurs.

I ran the whole transition with your savegame and there was nothing unusual - worked for me, except I did not end in Irenicus dungeon but directly in CtB Candlekeep??.
However from your description it seems that CtD happens after Mae'Ver has captured your party. DO you see the shadow thief saying ~ Take them all back to Amn.  Our client awaits.~??
 
If yes, the problem may be in AR0602 rather than in the transition. You can check that with just taking your PC and using console MoveToArea("ar0602").

If you have NI installed you should also check if SoaIntro.mve runs correctly on your PC.

The results of using console MoveToArea("ar0602"), is that I find myself next to the Djinni and after some dialogue, some cutscenes occur (beholder kill monks) and I find myself in candlekeep (chores?) as a child speaking with Gorion. While I'm candlekeep my party is alive and in Irenicus dungeon. Worgas NPC speaks as soon as I move with any companion and everything looks fine (although I'm confused by all that as I had never made it before in BG2 through BWP)

 

The area I have the CTD is ARAM00, I hear no sound, nor I see anything else from what I've described, thus no Mae'Ver and no the shadow thief saying.

 

I have NI, and by pressing play on the SoaIntro.mve, the movie plays (all seem fine)

 

So, any idea what I should try next?

Btw, in your opinion, is it safe to continue from the (chores-and party in Irenicus dungeon) situation or that may cause further trouble? (don't want to mess my game with variables and globals go wrong)

 

P.S.: Off topic but congrats on Sandrah NPC, this is in my humble opinion the best mod I've ever experienced!

It is not a good idea to continue the game from Irenicus dungeon without the transition, you spoil most of BGT.

 

It is better to find what went wrong in Aram00. At what point does it exactly go wrong??

1. you talk to Belt

2. you are transferred to ARAM00

4. Party drops inventory

5. Some text is displayed for PC What is going on here, Sandrah?

6. The two of you move a bit into the middle of the area

7. Some text is displayed for Sandrah YourName there is someone in the bushes...an ambush!

8. One by one your party members portraits disappear

9. Screen goes dark for a second

10. You and your comrads are nauseated (lying sleeping on the ground)

11. Shadow thieves appear and some text is displayed

12. The SoA Intro movie is started

13. You come up in Irenicus Dungeon and SoA starts....

Another thing to check - if you know about changelog you should look if some mod affects Druid10a.bcs

Well, I guess mine goes wrong in 2 points. 1-4 are ok, 1) but 5-7 never happens.  2) it's like 8-9 happen after 1-4 and after 9 I have the crash.

 

Although an old player, I don't remember much about changelog, but I promise if you instruct me, I'm sure I can find it and tell you all that is needed.

 

Btw, I had seen some Druids that had a bug in my game (they were hostile and not attacking but staying idle), but I have no idea if that is relevant to this matter. ( I have a list of bugs and oddities but in general I had a much stable playthrough and I think I've completed with no problems like 90-98% of the content available)

 

Through NI, here is my Druid10a.bcs (attached) if it helps

Not an easy case...There are several possibilities (the screen is dark when they may happen)

Suggest the following

1. Open Sanpre2.cre in NI and remove Druid10A class script (set to none).

2. To check the second issue do CreateCreature("ambmaevr")  CreateCreature("ambthif2") CreateCreature("ambsthfo") and see if any of those cause the CtD

 

EDIT - I run your savegame using your highly modded Druid10a,bcs with it and there was still no issue for me, transition went all the way through. This seems to eliminate possibility 1 as the source.

Yes sorry that was a 0 not an o with that thief.

Hm...

You may still want to check option 1 as well yourself - our installations are very different after all.

 

If that does not help - I suggest to kick Sandrah out of the party before you talk to Belt (your reunion will be slightly different in BG2 but not as dramatic as a CtD), You may also want to post your ARAM00.bcs.

 

After that - kick out Minsc, Jaheira, Imoen one at a time before talking to Belt (their transitions are handled in the dark period when we see nothing and where you get the CtD.)
