Using BWS 1dd9abee399d.

Questions:

1) Some grey colored components cannot be removed.  Why?

2) Baldurdash v1.68 is blue.  Baldurdash v1.73 is red.  Why?  Baldurdash v1.74 is available.

3) Fishing for Trouble and Fishing for Trouble (prelease) are both on the list and colored blue. Why?

Problems:

I do not know what is causing this.  It is possible it is my computer.  It is possible it is my typing.  It is possible it is BWS.

I made my selections last night.  Save them in BWS.  Opened BWS this morning and imported the selections.  What a mess.

The problem is BWS is changing my selections.  Not just one or two, but nearly all.  In some sections the selections I made were deleted and the selections I did not make were added.  The "search" function" is not working.  When I tried to search, many sections were move out of the order they were in.  For example sections pertaining to BG1 were move into sections which were for BG2 NPCs.

While I wait for replies, I will download a fresh copy of BWS and see how that works.  As I said, this may be caused by my computer.  I will post the results of a fresh download as soon as I can.

1. They are essential, you can't run BWS without them ( BG2 fixpack, Tobex, etc ).

2. Baldurdash 1.74 is newest and must be made compatible with BWS ( i.e. you can't run BG2 fixpack and Baldurdash together without some compatibility modifications ), v. 1.73 wasn't been available for public download until recently ( and already is outdated ) so it leaves us with good old 1.68 for now it seems.

3. They are pretty much the same, but prelease is newest and still supported if I understood correctly.

I also started having problems with BWS. It started Thursday night CDT. Experienced same issues you reported especially with Balder dash mod. Sandrah also gone. Had to go back to BWP, but closer to resolving my last issue.

@Greenhorn, Baldurdash 1.68 is not available anymore. I'm trying to use BWS to install (among other things) Tortured Souls, which requires Baldurdash, and that is super problematic at the moment. I've resorted to (at least partially) trying to update BWS to accept 1.74 with its new components and I've also updated Tortured Souls to 7.0.5. I'm trying to run the installer now to see if it works :)

You are trying to use the BWP, not the BWS...
The BWS in that just does the downloading & extraction, but the .bat does the install... DO NOT USE THAT... would be my recomandation, use the BWS itself to do the install too, aka the one option that says "full customization" or something very close to that. The other shouldn't really be customized at all ... unless you just remove mods ... and that can be tricky too.

Yep, Jarno Mikkola. my Mega Mod FAQ. Use of the BWS, and how to use it(scroll down that post a bit).
OK, desert dweller, welcome to the sanity, you are free to search for the limit, it's out there, we drew it in the sand. Ouh, actually it was still snow then.. but anyways.

You are right, just updated BWS to newest, all links to Baldurdash point to newest 1.74 v, even old links in Black wyrm lair Baldurdash forum with 1.68 v are replaced with this one. So, 1.68 is after long time permanently retired...

Hi All:

I am in the extraction phase right now.  BWS downloaded Tortured Souls v7.05 so I assume it will be using it.  I used Baldurdash v1.68 instead of Baldurdash v1.73.  Will that cause any problems?  YES IT DOES!!!

Just now the install stopped.  Apparently Tortured Souls v7.05 wants Baldurdash v1.74.  BWS will not use Tortured Souls v7.04 and BWS cannot get Baldurdash v1.74.

So what do I do now?

Hi Greenhorn:

I just checked.  There is no new update of BWS.  Still on COMMIT 1dd9abe.  So how do I get the new version of BWS?

Hi Tom, from what I can see that is indeed still latest version. But download link:

Mod]
Name=Baldurdash
Rev=1.6.8
Type=S,T,E
Save=BDash168.exe
Size=5080511
Tra=EN:0,--:0,GE:1,RU:2
Wiki=Baldurdash

from BWS/Config/global ( where all mod links and descriptions are stored ) actually point to BDash174.

Hi Greenhorn:

Actually BWS did download Bdash v1.74.  How or why I do not know.  So I have both BDash 174 and Tortured Souls 7.05 in the folder.  I just hope BWS will link them together.  In the list of mods, BWS has BDash 1.68 and BDash 1.73.  So how will it know to use Bdash 1.74?

I'm afraid that somebody else will have to answer you this Tom, but my guess is that BWS should be updated to follow newest developments on Black wyrm lair front...

I successfully installed both Baldurdash 1.74 and TS 7.0.5 using BWS yesterday. It does require some changes in BWS, because BD 1.74 contains components that are not listed in 1.68 or 1.73 yet. And those components are prerequisites for 1.74. I'll see if I can make a Pull Request for BWS today or tomorrow, with my changes.

Who on this forum is the author of BWS by the way?

ALIEN, agb1 ... and so on. Primarily.
But before you actually do the pull request, could you test the thing that it works ? That you can actually go through the quests without breaking 100% of the rest of the game.
