I have just finished installing the Big World Project and everything looked great until I tried to use a potion. It disappeared from the inventory but had no effect. Anyone have any idea what might be causing this? (I know I should attach a file with a list of mods installed but I can't remember what that file is.) Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

WeiDU.log from your game folder.

Also, using ShadowKeeper or EEKeeper, open your saved game when you have the potion in your inventory and the program will tell you the filename of the item (usually POTN##.ITM).  Find that ITM file in somewhere in your game folder's generalized_biffing\ sub-folders and upload it here too, please.

Cheers agb1 for the reply. Here is my weiDU file. I'm not sure I have attached it properly. I am trying to find the item codes that you suggested but from what I have seen so far the problem affects all potions. I hope this can be sorted as this looks to be the best build I have had yet. (other than the potion problem that is)

Cheers for any help you can provide.

Please upload at least one of the problematic potion files so we can look at it.

Finally figured out hot to extract the files. These are the two potions I have used so far. Both have the same non effect.

Cheers again for the help. You have no idea how much I appreciate it.

Something has removed the whole functionality from the item... I expect it to be a mod incompatibility such as one make the potion to cast a spell and another that removes that from all spells(the use of the opcode 146) from items for what ever reason.

Run these commands using either the command console, or just make a new .txt file, open it with Notepad, paste this text to it, use the "Save As" command and save it as something such as "potiondebug.bat":
mkdir change-log
WeiDU.exe --log nul --change-log potn08.itm >change-log/change-log.txt --out change-log
And then run the .bat or the command lines in the cmd.exe in the game directory.
This will allow us to reduce the possible mods to the ones that effect the item, and give you backups you can check even your self to find which mod screws you over... welll.

Yep, Jarno Mikkola. my Mega Mod FAQ. Use of the BWS, and how to use it(scroll down that post a bit).
OK, desert dweller, welcome to the sanity, you are free to search for the limit, it's out there, we drew it in the sand. Ouh, actually it was still snow then.. but anyways.

Some mod has removed all effects from your potn08, especially this one

Type: Current HP bonus (17)
Target: Self (1)
Power: 4
Value: 9
Modifier type: Increment (0)
Heal flags: ( Heal normally )
Timing mode: Instant/Permanent until death - 1
Dispel/Resistance: Dispel/Not bypass resistance (1)
Duration: 90
Probability 1: 100
Probability 2: 0
Unused: 00 45 78 70 69 72 61 74 h
# dice thrown/maximum level: 0
Dice size/minimum level: 6
Save type: ( No save )
Save bonus: 0
Special: 0

Now the potion has only one effect - disappear after use

You also have another mod in your installation that replaces this oriiginal potion by one that uses a spell Potn08.spl instead of the effect, but this spell is also removed from the item you posted.

PS @Imp - changelog may not help much as those mods do not change but overwrite the files.

OK this is the change-log. Maybe you might recognize the problem mod?

Thanks everyone for the help. If nothing else I am learning some new things.

The potn08.00005 you just posted is correct.

You should rename it to Potn08.itm and copy it into your override. It should work.

Why the one in game does not work, no idea - unless the potions you pick up are different ones???

Cheers. I'll give it go. I take it that this process will work on any potions that do not work? Thanks again. You have saved me a lot of time.

Since the change-log ends at 00004 and you attached a 00005 version of the changelogged item, it implies that the 00005 item is the one in your game at the moment  (I was half expecting this to be related to the lolfixer )

Could you attach the file called Big world Debug.7z?

Actually, it imp(even if I usually don't)lies ( , nerdy I know... ) that the file is from the games override folder, and that usually tells that it's edited by a non-weidu mod, or a game editor. So it could be a user created error. Or something else.

I think that you will find a few errors from mods that did not install. Any advise on those would be great but at the moment I'm not to worried.

Well it is something in the Closer Installation. (I zipped a copy of the SOA folder every 2 chapters). Probably the lolfixer as you thought.
