Viconia problem in BG2 under BWP Tactical build

Continued playing through a tactical build of BWP - just started BG2 after finishing BG1 and finishing the irenicus dungeon starter in BG2 (and the half-playthrough of Icewind Dale too - nice that!).  So, I love Viconia and want her in my group.  I go to the government district and there she is, tied to a pole and about to be roasted by the mob.  I valiantly save her and then add her to my group.  I do notice that each time I load a saved game with her in group, I get an animation that I am only used to seeing when an armorer creates a new item from parts.  No biggie that, just FYI.  The reason for this post though, is that Viconia cannot equip any weapons or ammo.  All armor, rings, etc. slots are fine.  But all 4 quick weapon slots and all 3 ammo slots don't work.  When I click on them or when I drop an item/ammo on them (or on the paper doll) I get a Bzzzt and the message "Magical weapon in use"

 

I looked in shadowkeeper and don't see anything in her hands but I am definitely NOT an expert in using shadowkeeper...

 

Any thoughts as to how to allow Vic to use weapons/ammo?  Thanks!

Quick google says casting Dispel Magic on the affected NPC seems to fix this... Apparently it's something to do with some of the summoned-weapon spells (maybe a script attached to her cast it and the effect didn't wear off?)

Quick google says casting Dispel Magic on the affected NPC seems to fix this... Apparently it's something to do with some of the summoned-weapon spells (maybe a script attached to her cast it and the effect didn't wear off?)

I never found the origin of this issue but as Viconia is a priestess let her cast *spiritual hammer' (SPPR213) - this creates another magical weapon in her inventory to replace the stuck one, but the new one times out after 30sec or so and afterwards all is normal.

Wow.. I should have googled that - the dispel magic worked like <cough> magic!   :-)  thanks and thanks again for the quick and helpful reply!

Well, now that it is pretty much repating constantly, it Is bothersome.  Any clues has to how to get rid of this (useless?) animation?

Well, now that it is pretty much repating constantly, it Is bothersome.  Any clues has to how to get rid of this (useless?) animation?

If you open a savegame in NI with Viconia, you can edit that out, Look for *magically created weapon* pretty much at the end of her cre file and set it to *-1*. Mind to apply it to a viconia.cre in the save game not the normal cre.

Roxanne, I would love to simply follow your instructions and have done with it - if I could.  But unfortunately NI is simply not user-friendly enough.  I can use shadow keeper no problem.  But NI, I have a hard time with.  I have checked out http://www.idi.ntnu....h/ni/index.html to not effect - I cant figure out how to do something as simple as loading a saved game so that it can be edited.  :-(   Would you have a link to any other site that might be more helpful for using NI?  <frustrated>

Isn't Viconia scripted to cast Flame Blade in that first encounter? If a mod alters that spell and/or the item associated with it (obvious candidates are SR and SpellPack) but the game script uses the original spell/item, I could see a problem like this resulting.

How about putting a savegame with Viconia in a zip file and post it here?

Go to your game directory - folder *save* - you will see some subfolders with you saves >> zip and post the one containing Viconia (the whole 0000xxx-BuggedViconia (or whatever your name for it)).

It was a permanent visual effect stuck on Viconia. I removed it. Hope it works,
