Hello.

I used to play with a lot of mods from the Big World Project. I have reached a point, when I'm trying to progress further into the Sendai's Enclave i get a crash to desktop while loading.

This bug stopped me from playing like 2 years ago, now I'm in a mood for BG2 again and I want to solve this bug and continue my playthrough.

What should i copy/paste so you could investigate further what may cause this bug and how to fix it? I forgot how to copy/paste the list of my mods, so please remind me, unless you don't consider it nessecary :P

Looking forward to see replies

Rutger

If you want to just continue from that point, you should probably paste Weidu.log at least, that's that list of installed mods. They might need some other files later, but that will be a start I can recommend. Whatever you have installed from two years ago will probably be quite archaic though :D

Direct q u o t e from Ascension64:

1. Open TobEx_ini/TobExCore.ini in a simple text editor.
2. Under the [Debug] section, set all values of 0 to 1.
3. Try to reproduce your error in-game. TobEx may sometimes reports some extra information about the error.
4. Report any errors you find on the Spellhold Studios forums. Expect to be asked to attach a .zip of your saved game folder, WeiDU.log, TobEx.log, TobExCore.ini, and TobExTweak.ini.

And then myself:
What to do in case of crashes:
If you haven't done it yet, enable logging. This might have already been done by the BW Install automatically.
You can do this by opening baldur.ini with any text editor (such as Notepad; better not to use Word or other sophisticated programs); just below [Program Options], add the following line:
Logging On=1
And try to reproduce the crash.

And after you have the crash, upload the files.
And I would say that it's easiest if you package all those files into a single .zip archive, so there's no multiple files to download at a bad upload rate/download size.

@MM: You couldn't wait for a 2 minutes, you had to try to ninja with "hey might need some other files later, but" ... why ? You couldn't retreave the same info I had ?!? Then you could go search for it WHEN it's directly asked.
:P

Yep, Jarno Mikkola. my Mega Mod FAQ. Use of the BWS, and how to use it(scroll down that post a bit).
OK, desert dweller, welcome to the sanity, you are free to search for the limit, it's out there, we drew it in the sand. Ouh, actually it was still snow then.. but anyways.

I ain't ninjaing anything, he's all yours :P But since he asked for the mods list, I gave him a start with that. Why wouldn't I?

Good luck solving the issue anyhow.

Do you want me to upload baldur.ini too?

Upload your baldur.err, baldur.log, tobex.log for us to know technical stuff about the crash and maybe tell us exactly what triggers the crash (moving into another area? revealing a specific part of the map?)

Tell us which area you're in (hit X with your mouse in the area to see the area code in the console)

Attach your big world debug.txt to let us know what errors happened during your installation

And finally, WeiDU.log will help us know how old your install is so we can crosscheck whether a fix has already been made :)

The crash happens when i'm trying to move to another area from area AR6104 - http://baldur.cob-bg...maps/AR6104.jpg

It's the north-eastern part of the map. The entrance to the crashy area is marked with number 4 on this picture. Note that in-game i can see only 1 2 3, the 4th area is not marked on my map.

I have attached all the files you wanted me to plus a saved game that was saved just before the crash.

Attached Files

Wow that's an old (2010) installation... but a flawless one

Your error doesn't hit anything in google though so that's not good.

Spoiler

So we'll try installing the lolfixer :D Install every component of the attached mod and try moving to the area in question... and give us the DEBUG file it generates :)

EDIT: In case it still crashes, search your override for AR6105.ARE and attach it... we'll need to check each CRE in it and CLUAConsole:CreateCreature() it to see which one causes the crashing (I think it's related to the elementals but we'll confirm :))

This is AR6105.are and this area is subject to a number of mods adding and changing the creatures there (I cannot read your weidu.log due to language). You should look at this area with NI and inspect the cretures there, one of them may be bugged (missing animation etc)

You can try to spawn them one by one in your current area and see which one causes the crash (and either repair it or remove it from ar6105 before entering)

I used your savegame and went into that area with no problem. You meet a drow priestess Diaytha and various monsters there - the monsters are different in all of my installations due to different mods affecting that area.

A possibly faster way to find the problem: enable TobEx debug logging (set all lines to 1 under [Debug] in TobEx_ini\TobExCore.ini) and rerun the game until it crashes. Then upload the TobEx.log here. The end of the log will probably show the creature that is causing the problem.

I just noticed Imp already suggested this. Never mind.

Try CLUAConsole:CreateCreature('DEMABI01') & CLUAConsole:CreateCreature('BEHHIV01') please - I think the crash happened when the game tried to render one of these.

If you find out which one, attach the affected CRE file from your override folder.

First of many thanks for all your inputs guys, appreciated.

Lollorian, i tried summoning those 2 creatures and they didn't crash my game.

I can't find any ARXXXX.ARE files in my override folder.. it's been a while but i think there was a mod that packs override files so they work smoother and take less place, is it because of this mod i can't find them?

Try doing a general Windows search for the area file in your game directory.  They are probably in one of the backup folders of the generalized_biffing mod, which is the one that packs the files as you said.

These creatures are in my original game for ar6105

ELEARG01

ELEMOGRE

SENPRI01

VAMPAT01

DEATHKNI

BEHHIV01 and DEMABI01 >> eliminated already above

Depending on some mods there may also be those

DEMGLA01

DEMBAL01

RR#EEARE

DW#NABSU

You may want to try if any of those cause the crash

Bingo Roxanne.

All work and no crash except RR#EEARE and DW#NABSU

RR#EEARE not found while summoning DW#NABSU causes a crash.

Can't find DW#NABSU even via the general windows search, will you manage to help me without attaching it?

Missing RR'EEARE should not be a problem, it is from a mod that maybe you have not installed.

You can try to put the attached file into override to avoid the CtD.

(It is just to go on, not a real solution)

You can just put that attached cre file into override to continue the game.

If you want to go to the source of the problem you need to look into your original cre file (using Near Infinity or similar) and see what is wrong with it - most likely the animation assigned or some weapon/item it has equipped...and then repair it before playing further.

Well then, I indeed would like to solve the source of problem, but then i would have to uninstall the generalized biffing. Should i just uninstall the mods that have been installed after generalized biffing according to Weidu.log and then uninstall the generalized biffing and then reinstall in the order from weidu.log?
