This is the first time I played this mod or part of this mod.  It is Boards o' Magick Item Pack.

Did some searching but very little success.

I talked with Bion and agreed to see his master about purchasing items.  The next thing I know is I am teleported to this dragon's lair and it is attacking me and my party.  So I fought and won.  Taluntian is dead and the only treasure was 29000 gold coins.  This was not what I expected.  Taluntain cast spells on the party.  The graphic looked like green pudding was poured on the heads of all.  The action was so fast I could not catch what was going on.  Immediately after Taluntain died, (and it was one long fight) I was teleported back to Waukeen's Promonade and attacked by vampires on one side and the shadow group on the other.  There were so many graphics that it was difficult to see what was going on.  After all were killed, I noticed that the green graphic from Taluntain's spell was still active.  I rested twice.  Quit the game and restated the game, but that graphic still is there.  The real problem Is that is happens every every 3-5 seconds.

I save the game in a panic and the save over wrote the bad game.  So if there is no solution, I will restart the game.  It really bothers me because this is the first major error I have have in this BGT game.

Any suggestions?  Does Taluntain attack without warning?  Or was he supposed to be a true merchant.

Thanks for any suggestions,

Tom

Iirc (my memory is rusty with BoM Item Pack) - Taluntain is some kind of dragon actually. I don't know how you managed to beat him so early (congrats!).

No, he shouldn't be hostile but he can go hostile if you offend him. I've never managed to kill him so I can't comment on green graphics - probably the spell, or one of the spell's effects, has a buggy timing mode (permanent).

You could try ctrl-R on your characters. If it still persists, an editor should help.

Ok, I've investigated a bit - it is indeed as I tought. Two of his spells have instant - permanent until death timing modes for graphic effects.

o!decay.spl - this is the one with green blob

o!spam.spl  - this should be constantly playing necromancy effect, provided it hits you

Ctrl+R should fix it.

Something however (if he attacks without you provoking him) busted his script.

Hi kreso:

Thanks for the comments.  I will try your fix and see what happens.

Right now I have Exnem installed and I am just running through the game to see what I want in my next mega-mod game.  With Exnem, you get very overpowered spells and too many potions to increase your stats to make you god-like.  So I guess that is why I could kill Taluntain.

Hi kreso:

I did try <CTRL>-R.  It did not fix the problem.  I do have CHEATS enabled.  So time to start over.

But thanks again for your help.  At least I know what is going on and I did learn about <CTRL>-R.

Yeah, but that's part of the Cheatkeys, which need the Console to be enabled, and then this console command:

CLUAConsole:EnableCheatKeys()

And then you can use the short cut cheat keys, like the control button and R to cast restoration spell to the character under the mouse pointer.

This is fairly odd....but probably the mod author assumed no one can actually beat the mage :D

If you want, try with Shadowkeeper. Edit the saved game, AFFECTS tab. You should see tables named type, name, param1, param2 etc.

Now, look further for resource 1, resource 2, resource 3.

One should say o!decay, and you should probably delete it.

Thanks for your help kreso and The Imp:

I lost the game.  I am a diabetic and my blood sugar dropped to 42.  Before I realized that, I somehow overwrote the game.  Not sure what I was doing.  Right now I am a few days (mine not the games) from duplicating the game that crashed.  If it does crash, I will post again.

That's in mg/dL, right ? Cause I had 6.6 just yesterday, but it's in mmol/L, which is totally different scale, as your is ~2.1 in mmol/L, which is where I might get shakes and other bad things. Yes, I too have diabetes, the type 1.

Hi The Imp:

Mine is the American scale where 100 mg/dL is normal.  I have had Type 2 diabetes for over 25 years now.

I usually save everything in duplicate so when I mess up I have a copy to fix things.  Just messed up this time.  I am about one day from replaying Taluntain.  I let you know how it worked out.

Hi All:

This time Bion looks like a Merphitt, but gets called and Imp.  Last time he looked like a boy.  Taluntain attacks again with provocation.  Not worth the long fight to kill him.  So used <CTRL>-Y and took the 25000 gold.  Then I was teleported back to Waukeen's Promenade.

My opinion is that this was modified by a juvenile modder who just wants to make the game impossible for the players.  There are a few of them.  So when I identify the mod, it will be deleted from any future game.

Been a bit since I've looked at this forum or I would have posted this sooner, but Taluntain is from the Boards O' Magic item pack, and your problems for the most part are not actually that mods fault. Taluntain is supposed to actually serve as a merchant, unless you start making preparations to attack him, such as placing traps on the ground in which case he is scripted to attack preemptively. This script seems to actually work fine on its own, but for reasons beyond my understanding several of the bug fix mods (the level 1 innate fixer, and the lolfixer mods) both seem to modify the script in some manner that causes Taluntain to always attack on sight. (I'm quite confident that those bug fixing mods still fix many more errors then they actually catch, so they are a good thing overall but they are not 100% perfect). In my own install I'm using a version of the script from before the level 1 innate fixer was run, that seems to be working, and which I've attached to this post, so if you have a saved game from before you killed Taluntain, and put the file in your override folder in theory he shouldn't go hostile anymore.

Hi Linthar:

Thanks for the information and the file.  Yes I have a saved game.  But is it worth playing the last 8 hours (real not game) all over again.  I'll have to think about that.

I installed the game with BiG World Install.bat v13 with the install order from BiG World Project.pdf v14.1.  The install order seems to have made a major positive difference in the BGT game.  I have had very few errors in the game.  I am through BG1 and about 50 hours into BG2 (SoA).  Aside from Tapanasacar, Taluntain and Vaelasa (Windspear Hills, I have no  major problems.  Tapanasacar and Taluntain can be killed with <CTRL>-Y to keep the game going.  Vaelasa does talk and give you her key before attacking so this does not stop the game.  With previous BWP installs, I was lucky to get to 10 hours into BG2(SoA) before I had serious errors which prevented the game from continuing.  I am looking to try the install orders that are in BiG World Project.pdf v14.2 and v14.3 to see if they are better. But again, i will use a modified BiG World Install.bat v13 to make the game and install the mods.

Linthar, thank you very much! Just had the same problem and your file worked. Had to reload the game but he didn't auto go hostile. Which is a shame as this merchant has very unusual and interesting merchandise.

Can someone who faced this issue attach their Big World Debug.txt (zip/rar/7z'd)

I tested installing BoM and lolfixer's innate fixer and things didn't break so there is some other mod interfering here

I've done a little more investigating on this. The change the level 1 innate fixer and lolfixer makes that breaks the script is changing

IF
	Global("O!NoTrick","GLOBAL",0)
        SpellCastInnate([GOODCUTOFF],SET_SPECIAL_SNARE_TRAP)
THEN
        RESPONSE #100
                SetGlobal("O!NoTrick","GLOBAL",1)
END
IF
	Global("O!NoTrick","GLOBAL",0)
        SpellCastInnate([GOODCUTOFF],SET_SNARE_TRAP)
THEN
        RESPONSE #100
                SetGlobal("O!NoTrick","GLOBAL",1)
END
IF
	Global("O!NoTrick","GLOBAL",0)
        SpellCastInnate([GOODCUTOFF],ROGUE_SET_TIME_TRAP)
THEN
        RESPONSE #100
                SetGlobal("O!NoTrick","GLOBAL",1)
END
IF
	Global("O!NoTrick","GLOBAL",0)
        SpellCastInnate([GOODCUTOFF],ROGUE_SET_EXPLODING_TRAP)
THEN
        RESPONSE #100
                SetGlobal("O!NoTrick","GLOBAL",1)
END
IF
	Global("O!NoTrick","GLOBAL",0)
        SpellCastInnate([GOODCUTOFF],ROGUE_SET_SPIKE_TRAP)
THEN
        RESPONSE #100
                SetGlobal("O!NoTrick","GLOBAL",1)
END

to

IF
    Global("O!NoTrick","GLOBAL",0)
    SpellCastInnateRES("SPCL414",[GOODCUTOFF]) // Set Alchemical Trap
THEN
    RESPONSE #100
        SetGlobal("O!NoTrick","GLOBAL",1)
END

IF
    Global("O!NoTrick","GLOBAL",0)
    SpellCastInnateRES("SPCL412",[GOODCUTOFF]) // Set Snare
THEN
    RESPONSE #100
        SetGlobal("O!NoTrick","GLOBAL",1)
END

IF
    Global("O!NoTrick","GLOBAL",0)
    SpellCastInnateRES("SPCL912",[GOODCUTOFF]) // Set Time Trap
THEN
    RESPONSE #100
        SetGlobal("O!NoTrick","GLOBAL",1)
END

IF
    Global("O!NoTrick","GLOBAL",0)
    SpellCastInnateRES("SPCL911",[GOODCUTOFF]) // Set Exploding Trap
THEN
    RESPONSE #100
        SetGlobal("O!NoTrick","GLOBAL",1)
END

IF
    Global("O!NoTrick","GLOBAL",0)
    SpellCastInnateRES("SPCL910",[GOODCUTOFF]) // Set Spike Trap
THEN
    RESPONSE #100
        SetGlobal("O!NoTrick","GLOBAL",1)
END

and doing some more testing the exact same script that causes Taluntain to go hostile in my mega install works just fine in an install with just lolfixer and the board of magic item pack installed. Beyond that I'm kind of stumped as to what additional mod might be causing the script to break and how said mod is doing that. The simple fix is probably to just remove the block from the script in the first place. It will slightly change the intent of the mod by making it possible to cheese a fight if the player chooses one by laying traps, but that seems preferable to leaving the bug in place if no one can figure out the true cause.

I ran into the described problem in my current playthrough (Taluntain was a hostile dragon instead of an elf merchant) and nailed down innate fix as the culprit, as you see I have neither BoM nor lolfixer affecting Taluntain.

Mods affecting O!TALT.BCS:
00000: ~D0TWEAK/SETUP-D0TWEAK.TP2~ 0 6 // Summoning Cap Removal: 22
00001: ~ATWEAKS/SETUP-ATWEAKS.TP2~ 0 155 // Further Revised Fiend Summoning: v4.40b3
00002: ~SETUP-INNATE_FIX.TP2~ 0 0 // Innates Set to Level One
00003: /* acted upon in an indetectable manner */~GENERALIZED_BIFFING/GENERALIZED_BIFFING.TP2~ 0 0 // Generalized Biffing: v2.2
00004: /* acted upon in an indetectable manner */~GENERALIZED_BIFFING/GENERALIZED_BIFFING.TP2~ 0 0 // Generalized Biffing: v2.2

I put O!TALT.BCS from the innate fix backup into my override and it fixed the issue.

I put O!TALT.BCS from the innate fix backup into my override and it fixed the issue.

I looked a bit into which other scripts the innate mod changes and also found one of my own mod's scripts in it - similar effect, it turns the creature (not a dragon but a githyanki enforcer) hostile on sight with no way of negotiation (bad, bad bad). Not only that, but my party just escaped out of Irenicus dungeon was able to defeat the enforcer in two rounds with the little weaponry they had >> the guy is a joke now (He originally is a challenge for a mid ToB party).

I also found most of the games dragons are affected by script changes as well there but I cannot comment on them as I do not know by heart how each of them is supposed to behave in its context.

It looks like it is enough for the *fix* to detect an innate spell somewhere in order to tweak a script into unusable.

I also did some research on why the mod was made in the first place and understood that the reason was to look for innate spells called by scripts to avoid crashes??

Have you seen why the switch of this:
SpellCastInnate([GOODCUTOFF],SET_SPECIAL_SNARE_TRAP)
Into that:
    SpellCastInnateRES("SPCL414",[GOODCUTOFF]) // Set Alchemical Trap
... causes the hostility ? My hypothesis is that the spell is flagged as hostile in the .spl file and thus the scripting change causes the hostile action to be "taken", which rolls the NPC hostile.

Meaning? Neutral creatures that may become hostile under certain circumstances AND have innate spells in their script will always turn hostile right away if you have the INNATE_FIX mod installed??

Either that mod makes a mistake or I have misunderstood you.
