(Love)talk (SoA) not firing properly?

Hey there, I've run into a small problem with Fade.

 

I'm currently at LOVETALK39 and just finished the Bodhi encounter (the one pre- Spellhold, so I'm still in Chapter 3) and now Fade's music starts playing and she 'twitches' a little but doesn't start a conversation.

 

Is there a condition I might have failed to meet or another reason she might be prevented from starting whatever conversation she's supposed to have at that point?

(Seeing as the LTtimer hasn't run out yet, I assume it's not LT40)

what other mods have you installed and who is in your party?

In addition to Fade and Charname I'm running with Nalia, Viconia, Kelsey, Anomen.

 

I kind of tacked Fade on top of an existing installation..

It happens in the graveyard district right after I leave Bodhi's lair.

So I've continued playing and went to Brynnlaw and so far had absolutely no reaction from Fade.

Unless its normal for her to have no interaction with Aran/Sime/Seamon I think something is seriously broken. :(


 

I've also tried to set the LT counter to 38 and 40 (and setting the LT timer to 0) and she did nothing in either case.

 

Edit:

To clarify things: She did have an interjection in the Bodhi dialogue and she did have a Charname conversation after Bodhi was defeated (assuring Charname the Shadow Thieves were honest with him or something like that). After leaving Bodhid's lair she obviously tries to initiate a conversation with Charname (she twitches and Charname turns to her, her music starts playing) and from that point she seems to have no other interjections with the storyline. (Although I can still initiate PIDs with her).

I had the same problem with one of the lovetalks, but it happened prior attacking Bodhi. I'm still running around town, doing quests and getting other lovetalks from Fade. Weird...

Hm, seems like you're more lucky than me. :)

 

@Lava

I've experimented some more and setting the LT count to 41 (with the timer being set to 0) did work and triggered the next(?) Lovetalk (The one about whether Charname has been in love before).

 

The question is, is she supposed to say something not LT related after leaving Bodhi's lair? Since the LT timer hadn't run up when I originally encountered the problem it seems unlikely that she was supposed to initiate the next LT.

Don't hurry yourself, it's just gamign stuff and of no real importance anyway.

 

Besides, my installation seems to be running fine now that I've changed the LT counter, so my posts are basically just for future reference, should that problem occur for others as well.

Do you have any savegame before that happened? I wonder if that was a random bug that can't be reporoduced, or something more serios. Was the thing happening outside the tomb?

As I see it, the question is why she tried to initiate a dialogue at that point.

Since the LTtimer hadn't run out she wasn't supposed to do that, I think.

 

It seems as if there are 'empty' LTcounter numbers like 39 which, for whatever reason, get increased once the LTtimer has run out and only after another timer Fade would initiate a dialogue.

So, her not being able to start a proper dialogue actually makes sense, since LT39 isn't supposed to start a dialogue anyway.

 

Sadly, I did also set the timer to 0 when I manually set her LTcounter to 41, so I can't really tell what's going on there.

 

 

As for saved games..

I only have a post-fix saved game (i.e. after I set her LT to 42 and had that love-talk ingame) but all other variables should be pretty much the same as before my 'fixing'.

I've got the same thing exactly. Music starts playing but she doesn't talk. I can still flirt with her. The timer is at 913822.

nb I just did AdvanceRealTime to get the next talk normally so it's no problem - just letting you know it's not an isolated incident.

I just noticed a weird thing: Fade's banters with Rasaad counts as lovetalks, even her music is playing. I checked with EE Keeper - before her banter with Rasaad it was lovetalk 21, and after banter with Rasaad it changed to 23. Is this normal? I remember when i played last time with Fade and Rasaad both in my party, some of Fade's lovetalks just never happened and there was a moment when she says nothing but her music is playing..

There are indeed two "empty" lovetalk variables (no. 24 and 40). The current scripting let to an "empty" dialogue start with romance music but no dialogue and a restart of the romance timer.

Plus, the current scripting is such that if Fade is not able to start a dialogue or the player clicks a command the moment she tries to initiate, this dialogue is "lost" and the counter variable will be increased without the dialogue run.

I guess that's also what happened for the last report, as it has nothing to do with Rasaad.
