Hello IE Jedi!

 

Veteran quester, newbie modder here--here's my question:

 

I began my new game as a half-elven fighter-mage-thief with an awesome-looking hooded-thief paperdoll/avatar, but as soon as I put on any robe or armor (even leather), my hoodie disappears. After toying with it, it looks like the F/M/T class is only able to switch between fighter and mage cosmetics. How does one control this aspect further? I want to look like a thief or a mage. I noticed that G3 BG2 Tweak Pack includes an "avatar morphing script," which is skipped on installation, I assume due to constraints placed by 1PP.

Well, as you can see you havr installed this:

It does the exact same thing as the BG2 Tweak pack... but a little better.

 

How to control it? Either make your very own script item combo mod or use the one you like best... there's really no other options.

The base reason why there's no hooded "thief" avatar in the selection in the script is that the normal fighter variety was chosen to represent the majority(as this is one for all approach).

Very well. Erephine's Smart Avatar & Armour Switching component is awesome--I'll settle for the mage look, then :)

Unfortunately, it seems Fighter/Thieves are stuck with fighter skin, as well, regardless of the armor.

Couldn't you simply click on the character and press ctrl-7 (or equivalent) to change the animation? That's what I do. It's a bit tedious, as you have to cycle through the animations to get the one you want, but it works.

Well, that does work indeed. If you won't install either of the avatar tweaks and enable the cheatkeys with the Console. With CTRL+6 and CTRL+7 ... to 6 and 7 depending on which direction you wish to go on the list, as pushing ones, takes you one step to either direction. The good thing is, the game even says what that avatar is supposed to be.

If you want to get your hands dirty with some light modding:

 

Grab Near Infinity, open LCARMOR.spl, switch to the edit tab, open the "Use EFF file" entry for FIGHTER_MAGE_THIEF and point its Resource File to LCARMORT.eff instead of LCARMORF.eff.

 

This gets you thief hoodies up to chain armor animations, fighter anims for everything heavier and mage for robes.
